Hallmark Channel could easily be renamed the “love channel” based on how many rom-coms it churns out every year — but how many are actually about Valentine’s Day?
The network released its first V-Day focused film in 2011 with The Lost Valentine. Unlike the movies that followed, this holiday-themed project is more of a drama. The movie follows a journalist (Jennifer Love Hewitt) investigating the story of an army widow (Betty White) who returns to Union Station every year on Valentine’s Day after promising her husband to meet at their spot despite him going missing in action during WWII.
As of February 2025, there have been 14 movies pegged to the romantic holiday most of which are more in line with Hallmark’s typical feel-good formula. Sweeter Than Chocolate star Dan Jeannotte called the 2023 project one of his “favorite Hallmark movies” because of how much love they packed into it.
“[We’re] seeing gay love stories, love stories with people who met later in life, older people who fell in love after having a marriage or losing a partner,” Jeannotte exclusively told Us Weekly in January 2023 of the premise. “And it just goes to show there [are as] many different ways to fall in love as there are different people in the world.”
