Courtney Love Says ‘Doll Parts’ Was Written In A Fit Of Jealousy Over Kurt Cobain

Love previously opened up about writing “Doll Parts,” revealing that the raw emotions behind the song were inspired by her early relationship with Kurt Cobain.
In a since-deleted 2020 Instagram post, the “Sons of Anarchy” actress recalled: “I had to write most of the lyrics on my arm in Sharpie as I ran out of paper. People were pounding on the door as I wrote it.”
“It was played for the first time about an hour later, at the Virgin megastore in Boston. It was about a boy, whose band had just left town, who I’d been sleeping with, who I heard was sleeping with two other girls,” she wrote, according to Rolling Stone.
She shared that the track was born out of heartbreak and jealousy, sparked by rumors that Cobain, whose band had just left town, was seeing other women.

The Singer Admits To Boldly Pursuing Kurt Cobain: ‘I Knew It Was Inevitable’

In a 1992 interview with Sassy magazine, Love shared how she made the first move in her relationship with Cobain, whom she was married to from 1992 until his tragic death in 1994.
The “Trapped” actress admitted that she was the one who pursued the Nirvana frontman.
“I really pursued him,” she said at the time, per People Magazine. “Not too aggressive, but aggressive enough that some girls would have been embarrassed by it. I’m direct. That can scare a lot of boys.”
Love recalled, “Kurt was scared of me. He said he didn’t have time to deal with me. But I knew it was inevitable.” She described Cobain as “really passionate and cute,” though she admitted she “couldn’t tell if he was smart, or had any integrity.”
Following Cobain’s death, Love never remarried, though she’s continued to honor his memory publicly over the years. She was briefly linked to director Nicholas Jarecki in 2015, but has largely remained single.

She added, “But he chanted with me & often, & truly was moved by our Buddhist practice. Thus, I know he’s in an enlightened place, more so than we here in Mappo are.”
Courtney Love Recalls Turning Down Liam Gallagher: ‘He Looked Like A 13th Century Serf’

Meanwhile, Love’s wild night out with Liam Gallagher resurfaced online last summer, thanks to Oasis’ surprise reunion announcement.
The Hole frontwoman shared a hilarious anecdote about spending an evening with the Oasis singer back in 2000, during which he tried to hook up with her. According to Love, she declined his advances — not for lack of interest, but because of his disheveled appearance and questionable hygiene.
In a 2014 interview with Metro, she recalled the moment Gallagher played her his song “Songbird” at the iconic Groucho Club in London.
She said the singer asked her, “What do you think of me?” But, according to Love, she was somewhat put off as “he had really bad breath from being up all night, and his eyebrows kind of met in the middle.”

“And I just thought he looked like a 13th-century serf from Monty Python. And I blurted it out loud,” she laughed. Fortunately, Gallagher didn’t seem offended as he didn’t even understand what she meant.
