Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are the executive producers of Netflix’s latest sports series, titled Polo, but do they appear in the show?
Yes, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do make a brief appearance in the content. Harry journeyed to Wellington, Florida, for the Sentebale Polo Cup, an annual charity polo match he hosts. Alongside his close friend Nacho Figueras, who is a renowned polo player featured in the show, they were seen competing in the charity match. Meghan was present as well to present the award to the winner. Harry and his team, Royal Salute Sentebale, emerged victorious in the tournament.
Sentebale is Harry’s nonprofit organization that raises funds for disadvantaged communities in Africa. The leadership of the organization was relocated to Southern Africa in December 2024 while spectators watched the charity event on Polo, a show that premiered in the same month.
“The charity event was coincidentally held in Wellington this year. It was a stroke of luck that everything aligned perfectly,” shared Polo showrunner Miloš Balać in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. “I am delighted that we were able to showcase this event as Nacho has been a crucial figure in this project right from its inception.”
Many of the athletes featured in Polo got a chance to play against the Duke of Sussex at the Sentebale match. And for those new to the polo world, keep scrolling to see which of the sport’s biggest stars are seen on the Netflix show:
Adolfo Cambiaso
The polo legend has been called one of the greatest polo players of all time. Pushing 50 years old, the athlete has already racked up quite the resume when it comes to wins in the sport. However, he’s shown competing against his own son in the 2024 U.S. Open to see which Cambiaso will come out on top.
“The Cambiaso story naturally stands out as an anomaly in sports in general,” showrunner Balać told Us. “To have a father and son competing against each other cross-generationally. … It actually is heard of in the world of polo. Fathers and sons and mothers and daughters will play together and against each other. I don’t know any other sports where that’s even possible.”
Poroto Cambiaso
The up-and-coming champion, Poroto is following in his dad’s footsteps to become a champion polo player. At 19 years old, he’s already held in high regard as a player.
“To see Adolfo and Poroto Cambiaso play — as the two greatest players that may ever play the sport — against each other and be related the way they are as father and son was really special,” Balać said. “Really a no-brainer of that’s going in the show.”
Louis Devaleix
Devaleix is somewhat of a newcomer in the polo world, having started playing the sport at 40 years old after growing up as a golfer. He’s married to Pamela Flanagan Devaleix (Bachelor alum Kelley Flanagan’s sister), and the show follows the couple as they gear up to welcome their first baby.
Balać told Us that the Devaleix story is one that viewers “can latch onto” even if they have no interest in “horses or sports” because they really display a “husband and wife dealing with a pregnancy and the stresses and joys that brings.”
Timmy Dutta
Another father-and-son story, the Dutta family showcases polo team patron Tim Dutta and his son, 22-year-old player Timmy.
“These are people who, they had a lot to share, and they were willing to share it,” Balać shared with Us about the familial aspects of the show.
Keko Magrini
Magrini is also one of the up-and-coming players that is followed throughout the series. Along with his time on the polo field as an 18-year-old, viewers will also get to see the athlete balance his personal relationships.
