Elliot Page is starting a new phase in his life by revealing his first public relationship after coming out as a transgender man in December 2020.
The 38-year-old actor from “Umbrella Academy” has announced that he is in a romantic relationship with actress Julia Shiplett, recognized for her performance in the Amazon Prime comedy series “Overcompensating.”
To commemorate Pride Month, Elliot shared a heartwarming moment with Julia on Instagram, where he uploaded a picture of the pair embracing on a street painted with rainbow colors.
The image made it clear that the pair were happy together, with Elliot Page including a rainbow and double-heart emoji in the caption.

In the video, Elliot was shirtless and wading through what appeared to be a natural spring, with Julia writing, “happy prideee” across the footage.
Before undergoing his gender transition, Elliot, who was known as Ellen Page, publicly identified as a lesbian and came out as gay on Valentine’s Day in 2014.
In 2018, he married dancer and choreographer Emma Portner, who was supportive when Elliot revealed his transgender identity in 2020.
However, in January 2021, Elliot and Emma announced their divorce, clarifying that they had been separated since the summer of 2020.

While Julia is the first girlfriend Elliot has publicly been linked to since his transition, the actor revealed in 2023 that he had been enjoying a private dating life.
“It’s the most fun I’ve ever had dating. Interacting with people feels so much easier and more connected, because I’m not feeling lost in myself and not seen in the right way,” Elliot shared with the Los Angeles Times.

“Doing something like this, complete improv, before, would’ve been close to impossible,” he noted, highlighting how far he’s come since coming out and how much his work has grown from a place of authenticity.

In “As for Close to You,” Elliot plays a trans man named Sam, returning home for a family reunion after five years, where he reconnects with an old flame. For Elliot, this role was “liberating,” and he sees it as a turning point in his career.
And when “host Ana Navarro asked, “What advice do you have for anybody who wants to be an ally to the community?” Elliot’s response was clear.
“The most important thing you can do is educate yourself and get involved,” he said. “The fight isn’t just for trans people; it’s for all of us.”
