The season 3 finale of The Way Home addressed fans’ queries about Colton Landry’s knowledge of time travel and the mysterious pond. While certain questions were answered, the episode also introduced new enigmas.
Warning: Spoilers below for season 3, episode 10 of The Way Home.
In the episode that aired on Friday, March 7, viewers were treated to a significant flashback revealing Alice’s (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) initial encounter with the pond in 2023. This time, Alice traveled back to the ‘90s and met her grandfather Colton (Jefferson Brown) for the first time. The scene was depicted from Colton’s perspective as he recognized Alice from her previous time-traveling experiences in the ‘70s.
Meanwhile, in another part of the finale, Del (Andie MacDowell) informed her daughter Kat (Chyler Leigh) and granddaughter Alice that she was prepared to take the leap, hoping to reunite with her deceased husband.
Elliot (Evan Williams) and Kat, meanwhile, found themselves in a place of turmoil after both confessing to kissing other people. Elliot kissed his ex-wife earlier this season, while Kat made out with her 1800s love interest, Thomas (Kris Holden-Ried).
Jacob (Spencer Macpherson) wasn’t free from the drama either after Del caught him trying to destroy the Goodwins’ winery to get revenge on Cyrus Goodwin (Tim Post) for burning the Landry farm in the 1800s.

What Did Colton Know?
In a flashback to Alice’s first jump to the 1990s, Colton was seen putting the pieces together. He remembered his teenage daughter, Kat (Alex Hook), finding Alice “in the pond,” and later recalled Alice telling him, “It’s just me and my mom,” which Alice told a teenage Colton (Jordan Doww) in the 1970s. Colton then got glimpses of himself singing with Alice in both the ‘70s and the ‘90s.
When Alice jumped back to the 1990s again (to play MASH with teen Kat and Elliot), Colton followed her to the pond and confronted her about being a time traveler. She confirmed his theories but noted that the 1970s Alice actually comes after the 1990s Alice.
Alice later jumped to the 2000s after young Jacob (Remy Smith) went missing. When she emerged from the pond, Colton asked her if Jacob went in the pond. He revealed that after seeing the portrait of “My Katherine” in pal Evelyn’s home in 2000, he realized that he saw his adult daughter in the 1800s when he time traveled and saved “her brother” — which must mean that Jacob is alive.
Alice ultimately confirmed that Jacob did return home but confessed that Colton wouldn’t be alive to see him. Colton subsequently made one more jump back to the 1990s and the start of summer before Jacob went missing to tell him he loves him. Back in the 2000s, Colton told Del he’d explain everything. He set out to find Kat — or Rose, as she was pretending to be when she traveled to the 2000 — when he got into the car accident.
The Landrys eventually realize that Colton knew everything about the pond and time traveling and that he even got to meet his granddaughter before he died.
Where Does Del Time Travel To?
When Del finally took the plunge, she was guided by Kat to 1975. Alice tried to jump with them, but she was separated. Del and Kat were transported to Del’s wedding day, which they watched unfold. “It’s exactly how I remembered it,” Del said as the fireworks went off.
Is Kat Going to Travel to Another Time Period?
While watching her mom and dad’s wedding in the ‘70s, Kat had an encounter with her great-grandma Fern (Jill Frappier), who knew about the pond. Fern called her “Kitty,” revealing that Kat “always liked the nickname before.” Fern then sang, “65 there they thrive, 65 in 25,” hinting Kat will travel to another time and meet her younger grandmother.
Is Casey Alice’s Daughter?
Casey (Vaughan Murrae) popped up a few times this season in hopes of giving Kat something important. During the finale, they met with Jacob and confirmed they are a time traveler. Alice later confronted Casey and said, “I’m your mom and Max Goodwin’s your dad,” but Casey replied, “No.” When Alice asked whether Casey was a Landry and a Goodwin, they teased, “I don’t want to break any more rules.”
Who Actually Owns Lingermore?
Casey gave Jacob a stack of paperwork, including Susanna’s will, which Cyrus’ sons hid after her death. The will revealed that Susanna (Watson Rose) left the Goodwin estate, Lingermore, to the Landry family.
Does Jacob Get Arrested?
After breaking into the Goodwin winery one episode prior, Del revealed that Louis Goodwin (Philip Riccio) wanted to press charges against Jacob. Del’s lawyer boyfriend, Sam (Rob Stewart), explained that there could be a case since Jacob was caught on camera.
Jacob eventually left after learning that Del received threats about him in a series of letters. He wrote his mom a letter, which read, “I don’t want to put my family in danger, maybe these letters will stop if I disappear.”
What’s Sam’s Connection?
When Sam called Del after she found Jacob’s letter, she admitted things are “not OK” because Jacob is “gone.” Sam promised, “It’s going to be OK, Del,” before the cameras showed him standing by the pond, hinting he might know the Landry family’s secrets.
Are Kat and Elliot Back Together?
After a season of ups and downs, Kat and Elliot had a moment of clarity during the finale. “I love you, I want to try again,” Kat said. Elliot confessed to putting her on a pedestal she “couldn’t live up to” and said he still loves her. Before sharing a kiss, Kat apologized for taking Elliot for “granted.” He then showed her his family ring, vowing to propose when the time is right.
Where Does Alice Stand With Max?
Alice kissed Max (Dale Whibley) during episode 9 after trying to avoid him for weeks, fearing that she and Max got married in the future and that Casey was their daughter.
The kiss was unexpected, but fans watched Alice and Max get closer over their respective bonds with Evelyn Goodwin (Devin Cecchetto) all season. Despite being unsure if the kiss was real or something she did because she thought she was supposed to, Alice and Max end the season on good terms.
“Look, last night, the kiss — not gonna lie ,I didn’t hate it,” Max told her, noting that Alice was still connected to Noah (Alexander Eling). Alice confessed, “Max, I didn’t hate that kiss either.”
Is Elliot’s Mom a Pond Jumper?
Viewers have learned very little about Elliot’s mom, who left when he was a baby and allegedly died shortly after that. During the season 3 finale, Elliot read a letter from his mom that his dad had hidden from him for decades, in which she wrote, “I jump for love.” The message led Elliot to believe she might’ve jumped into the pond.
Alice later realized that she met Elliot’s mom in 1974. Elliot went on to discover that a quote by T.S. Eliot was inscribed on a clock in the walls of his house — but the clock was put there years before the quote was ever written.
Alice and Kat then deduced that Elliot’s mom could have gone in the pond “with a Landry.” At the end of the episode, baby Elliot was dropped on Del and Colton’s doorstep after they welcomed their daughter — just as two teenagers jumped into the pond.
The Way Home was recently renewed for a fourth season on the Hallmark Channel.
