Skai Jackson has given birth to her first child.
“Kasai 🧸🤎,” the Disney alum, 22, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, January 26, alongside a photo showing off her newborn’s tiny feet clad in a green plaid onesie and matching socks. Skai has not yet confirmed the gender of her baby. She has similarly kept the identity of the father under wraps.
Friends of Jackson flocked to the comments to offer their congratulations. “Congratulations mommyyyyy🥹,” wrote singer Layton Greene, while YouTuber Denzel Dion commented, “And he’s here!!! congrats mamas 🫂❤️.”
Jackson announced her pregnancy in November 2024. “I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter in my life — embracing motherhood and diving into new acting projects,” she said in a statement to People at the time. “My heart is so full!”
Jackson’s journey into motherhood comes after a tumultuous 2024. In August last year, Us Weekly confirmed the Jessie alum had been arrested for alleged domestic battery after a fight with her boyfriend at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. The actress informed officers at the time that she and her boyfriend were engaged and that she was pregnant.
She was released from police custody hours later on a $20,000 bond and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office declined to file charges. Both Jackson and her boyfriend denied getting into a physical altercation.
“Skai is relieved that the investigation revealed that this was nothing more than a misunderstanding,” a rep for the actress told Us in September 2024 after charges were dropped. “We appreciate that the DA determined very quickly that there should be no charges of any kind and Skai looks forward to putting this behind her.”
Jackson gained prominence on Disney Channel as Zuri Ross on Jessie, which ran from 2011 to 2015, before reprising the role in the spinoff Bunk’d. She also had featured roles on Marvel Rising, Sheroes and even competed on season 29 of Dancing With the Stars. However, she has lately been enjoying her time out of the spotlight.
“Now when it comes to telling the business, I don’t tell all my friends my business,” Jackson explained in a 2023 social media video. “Just because you need to have things to yourself, as well. Not everybody needs to know every single piece about your life.”
She added, “I don’t owe anyone anything and I don’t need to show you guys every bit and piece of my life for what? I like to keep things to myself, like, y’all know how I act [which] is pretty much how I act in real life, but I don’t need to disclose everything that I do.”
