Education Sec. Means Business in Video on Reports Maine Ed. Dept. Hides 'Gender Transitions' From Parents

On Thursday, the 10-day deadline the Trump Education Department (ED) had given the state of Maine and its schools to comply with Title XI ran out. The administration tried to work with state school administrators by offering a Voluntary Resolution Agreement, which would have banned biological men and boys from competing in girls’ sports. Maine, however, stridently refused to protect girls over “transgender” athletes in sports (see the video in the post below)::

Earlier this week, Education Secretary Linda McMahon called out Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom over his about-face in comments on transgenderism, as the department seeks to hold the state accountable for not complying with Title IX, and President Donald Trump’s executive order on biological males in girl’s athletics.

I encourage you to read Sister Toldjah’s stellar smackdown piece, in which she writes: (emphasis added)

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), they explained, “is a federal privacy law” that guarantees a number of rights to parents related to the public education system including “the right to access their children’s education records, the right to request record corrections or amendments, and the right to control, with important exceptions, disclosure of personally identifiable information in education records.”

Now, McMahon, alongside Parents Defending Education founder and president, Nicki Neily, is showing she means business in a new video Friday on the Maine Department of Education reportedly doing the same sorts of covert trans activism in violation of FERPA, by withholding knowledge of children’s “gender transitions” from their parents:

The post (which tags Neily) reads:

We will enforce all federal laws to safeguard students & families.

And as Neily rightly points out in her own X post, these alleged actions, if true, are not “inclusion”:

Readers are likely familiar with the tussle that began in Feb. between Pres. Trump and ME Governor Janet Mills on biological males in girls’ sports and locker rooms, leading to the USDA threatening to pull federal funds from Maine universities. As I wrote, the MaineU system of colleges made peace with the administration a few days ago–but as we see, not everyone in the state is on board:

Democrat Maine Governor Doubles Down on Transgender Policies After Trump Tiff, USDA Title IX Review

California and Maine aren’t the only blue states where Team Trump is hunting out the allegations of illegal actions in schools. According to an emailed factsheet, the Office of Civil Rights is also investigating Portland, OR, schools, for allegedly running afoul of Title IX in several ways. First, they “allow[ed] a male track student athlete to compete in a girls’ interscholastic track and field competition on March 19, 2025 and permit[ed] the male athlete to use the girls’ locker room while female athletes were changing.” But there’s also this:

OCR also sent a letter notifying the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA), the governing body for the Portland Interscholastic League, that it was opening a directed investigation into its policy, which appears to violate Title IX.

We’ll keep you posted on these developing stories, as the Trump ED investigations play out.
