Halle Berry kisses Adrien Brody on Oscars red carpet

More than 20 years after their infamous Oscars kiss, Halle Berry got her “payback” at the 2025 Academy Awards.

WASHINGTON — Twenty two years after their shocking kiss at the 2003 Oscars, Halle Berry got her “payback” on Adrien Brody.

While walking the Oscars 2025 red carpet on Sunday, Berry approached Brody and surprised him with a kiss of her own.

Berry shared a video of the moment on her Instagram with the caption: “Surpriseee @adrienbrody!! I had to get some payback.”

The official Oscars social media account posted another angle of the “reunion 22 years in the making” where Berry remarks to Brody’s partner, Georgina Chapman, that she’s “sorry Georgina, but I’ve got to do this.”

While accepting the award for his first best actor win in 2003 for “The Pianist,” Brody kissed Berry, who presented the award, at the podium.

“I bet they didn’t tell you that was in the gift bag,” he joked during his acceptance speech while looking at Berry, who appeared caught off guard.

During a 2007 episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Berry confirmed the Oscars kiss was not planned.

“Because I was there the year before, and I know the feeling of being out of your body, I just…went with it,” she recounted.

“Twenty one years I’ve been waiting to get him on the red carpet and slap one on him,” Berry remarked to “Extra” after Sunday’s “payback” kiss.

Just like in 2003, Brody also won the Academy Award for best actor. The 22-year gap between his first and second win for “The Pianist” is the second longest between best actor wins.
