On “Fox and Friends” this morning, Charlie Hurt put it this way:
The border has been shut down. It’s quite amazing to consider that if any president achieved what President Trump has at the border, they could simply call it a day. However, that’s not the case with President Trump, as he continues to work on this issue. The chief patrol agent in the San Diego sector stated: “Due to the significant decrease in illegal border crossings this year, the large 1,000-person San Diego Sector Soft Sided Facility has been taken down. In March 2025, San Diego Sector apprehended 1,199 illegal immigrants, averaging 38 per day. This marks a remarkable 186% decrease compared to March 2024.”
A 186% decrease. That’s an incredible figure. Just consider the significance of this achievement. After an election where Trump secured a landslide victory, merely five months later, migrant facilities are being closed. What’s particularly frustrating for Republicans is that all of this has been accomplished through executive actions; Congress has yet to pass a comprehensive border bill to further enhance our border security efforts. The clear message from President Trump and others in the administration is – do not attempt to enter the US illegally or you will be promptly deported. It is evident that those intending to cross the border unlawfully have received this message loud and clear.
