Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are “madly in love” with each other after going public with their romance earlier this year.
A source exclusively revealed in the latest issue of Us Weekly that although they are not officially living together, Hugh Jackman, 56, and Sutton Foster, 49, are spending a significant amount of time together. The source noted that the pair feels “relieved and happy” to no longer be hiding their relationship.
Jackman and Foster were first linked romantically in late October 2024. Reports from Us indicated that their friendship, which has spanned a long time, evolved into romance while they were both working on the 2022 Broadway revival of The Music Man — a time when they were still married to their respective partners. (Jackman and his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, announced their divorce in September 2023, while Foster filed for divorce from Ted Griffin in October 2024.)
The public unveiling of their relationship occurred in January when Jackman and Foster were seen sharing a kiss outside a fast-food establishment in California. Subsequently, the couple traveled to New York City, where Foster showed her support for Jackman at the premiere of his Broadway show From New York, With Love on January 24.
“It felt like the right time as their relationship has gotten stronger,” the insider tells Us of the couple’s choice to step out publicly.
The source notes, “They’ve known each other for so long that it’s easy to fall into the next stage of their relationship.”
The next steps don’t include living together just yet, the source adds, but Jackson and the Younger alum are thinking about their relationship in the long-term.
“They’re not rushing into marriage but are committed to taking the next steps together,” a separate source tells Us.
Jackman was married to Furness, 69, for 27 years before their split in September 2023. Prior to their breakup, Jackman grew close with Foster while working together on The Music Man.
Us previously reported that Foster and Jackman’s romance — which unfolded during their 11-month Broadway run — is the “reason” he and Furness “got divorced.”
“A lot of people on Broadway knew, and we kept it quiet because both of them are so nice and great people,” a source told Us in November 2024, claiming, “Everyone respected their privacy. But there was an affair and overlap.”
Rumors of Jackman and Foster’s relationship swirled after gossip blogger Tasha Lustig alleged via Instagram in fall 2024 that the Greatest Showman actor “blindsided” Furness by “running off with the mistress.”
A source later told Us that Jackman’s alleged affair with Foster was “Broadway’s worst-kept secret and Deborra-Lee was the last to know.”
Despite the messy end to his marriage, Jackman doesn’t appear to be letting the scandal ruin his budding romance with Foster. (Foster, for her part, has yet to finalize her divorce from screenwriter Griffin, 53, with whom she shares 7-year-old daughter Emily.)
“They’re happier than ever,” an insider told Us in November 2024 of Foster and Jackman.
Two months later, Jackman and Foster let their relationship speak for itself by upping their public appearances.
Jackman was spotted at Foster’s Los Angeles performance of Once Upon a Mattress on January 4. Two days later, the couple was photographed holding hands while on a date in Santa Monica. The pair packed on the PDA later that month while driving through In N Out in San Fernando, California.
