At Edgewater Beach, the amount of E. coli present is currently 106 MPN/100mL, which is better than it was on Saturday. Despite this improvement, the expected water quality is still categorized as “poor.”
CLEVELAND — The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District in Cleveland has again listed the water quality as “poor” at Edgewater Beach for Sunday.
NEORSD has issued a water quality advisory for Edgewater for the second consecutive day this weekend. However, unlike the previous day, Villa Angela is expected to have “good” water quality.
- Edgewater Beach: The predicted E. coli concentration is 106 MPN/100mL. The threshold is listed at 80 MPN/100mL.
- Villa Angela Beach: The predicted E. coli concentration is 96 MPN/100mL. The threshold is listed at 135 MPN/100mL.Â
The levels of E. coli at both beaches have shown improvement since Saturday. The projected E. coli concentration for Sunday at Edgewater is 106 MPN/mL, a decrease from the 139 MPN/mL recorded on Saturday. Similarly, at Villa Angela Beach, there has been a reduction of over 200 MPN/mL in E. coli levels compared to the previous day.
“The percent probability that a beach will exceed the set threshold is calculated by the Virtual Beach 3.0 software based on beach conditions measured during sample collection,” according to NEORSD. “When the percent probability generated by Virtual Beach 3.0 exceeds 50%, the true E. coli concentration is expected to exceed the Bathing Water Recreational Criteria of 235 MPN/100mL.  Increasing percent probability indicates an increased likelihood of a true exceedance of the recreational criteria and vice versa. ”
