Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez might tie the knot in Italy on Bezos’ $500 million yacht

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are rumored to be planning a wedding in Italy, possibly involving the billionaire’s $500 million yacht, Koru.

This comes after Bezos denied reports of a $600 million Aspen wedding, noting that such an event was not being planned.

Jeff Bezos proposed to Lauren Sánchez in May 2023, after being together for five years. He popped the question with a 20-carat diamond ring worth up to $3.5 million as the Amazon founder and former journalist decided to take their relationship to the next level.

There are speculations that the couple might be eyeing Italy as their wedding destination. Paula Froelich from NewsNation shared that she overheard women discussing the potential location for the nuptials at Matsuhisa, a luxurious sushi restaurant in Aspen, Colorado, during a holiday dinner party.

As reported by the New York Post, a source claimed that the wedding could take place in the European country in the “spring/summer.”

Furthermore, the wedding is rumored to involve Bezos’ extravagant luxury yacht, Koru. The yacht, costing over $500 million, boasts a wooden figurehead resembling Sánchez, adding a personal touch to the high-profile event.

This new report comes after Bezos shut down rumors that he and Sánchez were set to marry in an extravagant $600 million wedding in Aspen, Colorado.

Taking to X, the Amazon founder firmly denied the claims, stating, “This whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening.”

Bezos further cautioned his followers, saying, “The old adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is even more true today than it ever has been. Now lies can get ALL the way around the world before the truth can get its pants on.”

He ended with a warning: “Be careful out there” and “Don’t be gullible.” Sanchez also shut down the report in a post, calling it false.

Bezos and Sánchez got engaged in May 2023 after nearly five years together. Their relationship first gained public attention in 2018, a year before Bezos finalized his divorce from MacKenzie Scott after 25 years of marriage.

According to Page Six, Bezos proposed to the award-winning media personality with an extraordinary 20-carat diamond ring valued at around $2.5 million. However, some experts, like Steven Stone’s Creative Director Maxwell Stone, estimate it could be worth as much as $3.5 million.

Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro, talked about the rarity of such a large natural diamond.

He noted, “To find a natural diamond in that carat weight is exceptionally rare, and there’s no doubt Jeff Bezos would handpick an extravagant diamond. It’s likely that months of planning went into the design of the ring and the selection of the stone.”

Recently, Sánchez’s relaxing sunbathing session aboard Bezos’ $500 million superyacht, Koru, was interrupted by customs officers conducting a thorough search on New Year’s Eve as the yacht was sailing near St. Barts, a holiday hotspot for celebrities.

Photos showed the 55-year-old former TV anchor smiling and posing on the yacht’s top deck in a stylish Versace bikini, paired with a black sarong and a wide-brimmed hat, while officers inspected other parts of the vessel.

The uniformed officers, dressed in black life jackets and carrying equipment, were seen speaking with a stewardess, who appeared to guide them through the yacht.

A source shared that while the inspection lasted about three hours, it was a standard “routine.”

Amid the marriage rumors, Sánchez opened up about her wedding excitement, revealing during a “Today Show” appearance that she’s been gathering ideas on Pinterest.

“I have to say, I do have a Pinterest — I’m just like every other bride, so I do have a Pinterest board,” she confessed, sharing that she’s exploring wedding dress options. “I’m thinking about the dress.”

In a November 2023 interview with Vogue magazine, Sánchez discussed the possibility of a destination wedding with Bezos, though nothing has been set in stone.

“We’re still thinking about the wedding,” she said at the time. “What it’s going to be. Is it going to be big? Is it going to be overseas? We don’t know yet. We’ve only been engaged for five months!”
