Kamie Crawford and Nev Schulman Haven’t Communicated Since Kamie’s Departure from MTV’s ‘Catfish’

Kamie Crawford enjoyed her time as the host of MTV’s “Catfish;” nevertheless, after spending several years in the spotlight, she made the decision to embark on a new chapter.

In a recent interview, Kamie Crawford talked about her reasons for stepping away from the show following multiple seasons. She also touched on her current relationship with former co-host Nev Schulman.

Speaking at Us Weekly’s Reality Star Style Awards event, Crawford, who also helms the “Relationsh*t” podcast, eagerly discussed how her life has evolved post her departure from the popular MTV program.

“Since then, I’ve been really focusing on my own projects and trying to produce shows and different things that really make my heart sing, which has been amazing,” she said. “And then my relationship advice podcast just won a Webby award today so … big day. It’s been great.”

Later, during the interview, Crawford, who was crowned Miss Teen USA in 2010, reflected on why she decided to leave the show after joining full-time in 2019.

“A lot of people don’t stay at their jobs for six years,” said Crawford. “People moved around all the time, and it was my time. I had done what I needed to do. I felt very confident about that. And I’m so happy with everything that we’ve done with the show, and I just felt like for me, I did my part. I left my mark and I was ready to do my own thing.”

In October 2024, she shared similar sentiments with The Blast, calling her exit a “difficult decision” before admitting she was hopeful about the future.

“I obviously love hosting. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, and I feel very blessed to be able to do it, and I don’t see myself not hosting, but I really want to get into the production side of things and be the one behind the camera,” she explained.

Crawford also touched on her relationship with Schulman, whom she first met in 2018 after filling in as a rotating co-host on the popular program.

When asked about where they stand today, Crawford admitted they “haven’t spoken.” However, she seemed optimistic about the future.

“But that’s OK,” she said. “Life goes on, and everyone moves in their own direction, and I wish him nothing but the best. And I wish myself nothing but the best.”

She continued, “People leave jobs all the time, and sometimes their coworkers are in their wedding, and sometimes they never see them again. And that’s OK. It happens.”

In 2024, news broke that Schulman had a near-fatal accident after colliding with a truck while he was biking to pick his son up from school.

He shared an update on Instagram days after the incident, saying, “Life can change in an instant.”

“I never made it to pick up my son from school on the bike. I’m glad I didn’t. I was alone on impact. [just] me and the truck. And then, I guess the pavement. I was alone and unconscious. And then, conscious.”

Later, the MTV staple was treated at a New York hospital for his broken neck.

“Stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed,” Nev explained in his post. “My hands were a question mark there for a minute, but the human body is incredible, and so are humans.”

He also explained on his social media how “lucky” he was to be alive and surrounded by his friends and family. According to him, his accident allowed him to “understand the meaning of gratitude.”
