Katy Perry is mourning the loss of celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero.
On Saturday, March 1, Perry, a former client of Guerrero, shared a touching message on Instagram. Alongside a collection of photos and videos of moments with the hairstylist, Perry expressed her emotions. Guerrero was known for designing many of the singer’s famous hairstyles.
In her caption, Perry addressed Guerrero affectionately, referring to him as “Hey Hey aka Chuy aka Jesus, our light filled beautiful boy ❤️.” She praised his ability to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in any room. Perry highlighted his talent for making women feel empowered by simply styling their hair.
Perry continued to eulogize Guerrero, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 34. She emphasized his caring nature and positive outlook on life. Perry described him as universally lovable and a comforting presence, always ready to offer honesty and support when needed.
She continued, “I know you are ok because you are now in the light that you shined so brightly back here on earth. It’s just us that are left with a dimmer world without you.”
Perry went on to share a quote about grief, which read: “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
“Let us take that grief and replant it as a seed of love and give it to someone who needs it from you today,” the “I Kissed a Girl” singer continued. “Life is precious and when we unexpectedly lose ones we love without being able to say goodbye it reminds us to never ever hold back on giving out our love.”
Perry concluded, “Jesus, you effervescent soul you, you better be giving the other Jesus a choppy feather or an octopus cut up there lol… till we meet again, I love you Chuy.”
Guerrero’s sister, Gris Guerrero, confirmed her brother’s death on February 22, though his cause of death was not confirmed at the time. A source told Us Weekly that Guerrero was battling an illness while traveling in Dubai with his client Jennifer Lopez.
“Everyone on his team did everything they could to get him to the doctors because he was not well,” Gris exclusively explained to Us in February. “They told him he was not going to work, he should see a doctor and rest. And he wanted to come home.”
