Kelly Ripa Talks Up Rihanna’s Met Gala Pregnancy Reveal On ‘Live’: “This Is What I Like About “Rihanna”

Rihanna‘s pregnancy reveal at this year’s Met Gala caught the attention of many — and some praise from Kelly Ripa.

During a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa shared with the audience that she experienced a sudden internet outage during a work Zoom call the night before.

“Not kidding, like the Zoom froze,” she explained. “And I was getting to my best jokes right as the Zoom froze.”

She humorously mentioned her anticipation for laughter that never came as she observed frozen screens before hearing some commotion outside.

“And I believe it was Rihanna getting into her car or van,” she claimed.

Recalling a recent event, Ripa recounted how the singer of “Disturbia” made a stylish entrance to a fashionable gathering on Monday night, making a surprise appearance with a notable plus one – her baby bump.

“This is what I like about Rihanna,” she continued, “besides everything: the music and her whole creative concepts and all of her endeavors that she does as a businesswoman. But when she announces a pregnancy, she doesn’t, like, show up at grandma’s house with a sonogram.”

In addition to the Met Gala, Ripa cited Rihanna’s 2023 Super Bowl Halftime performance, where after online sleuths speculated she was pregnant, she confirmed that her second child was on the way. This will be Rihanna’s third child with rapper A$AP Rocky, who is starring in Spike Lee‘s upcoming drama Highest 2 Lowest.

“She does it big,” Ripa added. “Like, ‘I think I’m going to reveal my thrilling new co-star at the Met Gala.’ But she looked great as she always does.”

Mark Consuelos agreed, asking, “Is that baby number three?”

After Ripa confirmed that this is Rihanna’s third child, the mother of three teased, “And Rihanna, call us if you need any parenting advice on going from two to three.”

Consuelos asked, “So, let me ask you a question. The internet went down because she broke the internet?”

Ripa replied, “I don’t know what happened, it’s just the internet froze. And I think there was so much drain on—”

“Bandwidth,” Consuelos chimed in.

Ripa continued, “Bandwidth from people at that moment… Just doing the thing. And I heard, like, a thunderous reaction to something. But again, I was on a work Zoom, so I had no idea what it was I was hearing.”
