Kristin Cavallari Says Her Kids Wanted to Be on Her Social Media 'For Years'

Kristin Cavallari is defending her decision to post images and videos of her kids on social media.

In an interview with People published on Sunday, June 1, she explained that her children Camden, 12, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9, who she shares with ex-husband Jay Cutler, have been asking her for years to post them.

She continued by expressing that she finally posted Camden about a year and a half ago, despite initially wanting to wait until they were older, feeling the pressure of being the second or third child who naturally follows the oldest. Although in her ideal scenario they would all be 12 before sharing them online, she acknowledges the challenges of making that a reality.

Throughout most of her children’s lives, Cavallari kept their faces hidden on social media. However, she now finds enjoyment in sharing her children with her followers online as they have grown a little older.

Kristin Cavallari shared never-before-seen photos of her middle child, Jaxon, in celebration of his 11th birthday. Cavallari, 38, posted five photos via Instagram on Wednesday, May 7, in which Jaxon posed in a burgundy suit jacket and blue tie as he stood next to his mom, who wore a little black dress. “Happy 11th birthday […]

“It is nice for me to be able to show that with people because my kids are the biggest part of my life. They always have been since I became a mom,” she explained. “And I could only let people in so much without showing my kids, so to be able to now share that world with everybody? People [can] see at the end of the day, I am just a normal mom. That is my life.”

Cavallari also emphasized that when she isn’t working, she’s doing things with and for her children.

“I’m going to basketball practice and games like every other parent. I’m at school. I was on a field trip last Friday. I am doing all the normal mom things,” she said. “And I think it’s probably good for people to see because I think people’s idea of me is very different than who I actually am.”

Kristin Cavallari is relaxing some of her social media rules with her eldest child, Camden. Over the Labor Day weekend, the Uncommon James founder explained why she finally chose to showcase her 12-year-old son’s face in Instagram photos. “OK, I appreciate everyone DMing me telling me that I showed Camden’s face, I know,” Cavallari, 37, […]

Back in 2023, Cavallari spoke with Us Weekly about her children’s relationship with social media. “I just joined TikTok and my oldest is, like, checking my numbers constantly. Like, ‘How many followers do you have now?’ So I get all of that,” the Hills alum revealed to Us at the time. “I still think they’re a little young to be on that stuff, but the day is coming, of course. Selfishly, I’m excited for them to join all this stuff because then that means I can start posting them ‘cause, I mean, of course, I wanna share that whole part of my world with people.”

She added: “I just wanna respect their privacy until they’re old enough to make that decision. I think I wanna keep them off of social media for a few more years. I mean, my oldest is almost 11, but I think that’s really young to be on social media.”
