LCD Soundsystem Will ‘Just Be a New York Band for a Bit’ with 12-Date Tri Boro Tour

Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens will get to see LCD Soundsystem several times later this year.

On Monday, the group announced a 12-date Tri Boro tour in New York City, starting on Nov. 16 at Brooklyn Steel. The city “tour” will see the group perform four nights at each venue, including Manhattan’s Terminal 5 and Queens’ Knockdown Center.

One show at each venue will be reserved for American Express cardholders only.

The new run of shows comes several months after the group went on their Play Around the U.S. in 2023 tour in June, making stops along the West Coast, Boston, Nashville, and Chicago.

James Murphy shared a lengthy statement back in March, detailing the group’s plans for the year, including their “reluctance” to get into the album-tour-break cycle of music. At the time, they had teased hosting several shows in New York City, where most of them live.

“We really wanted to stop living like that,” he wrote, referring to the non-stop tour cycle. “We talked about just playing some shows in New York, since most of us live here, and not making it too big of a deal. Like, just playing because we like it and because we like one another. Just be a New York band for a bit. And maybe we’ll do something like that every year. Just stay in shape, if that makes sense.”

At the time, Murphy — who fronts the band with Nancy Whang, Pat Mahoney, Tyler Pope, Al Doyle, and Korey Richey — continued by saying the group would still release singles but will avoid “album panic.”

“We DO know that it was great to play those shows, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the shows we’re playing this year. It’s not overwhelming, so I can work on new music and we can all be human beings,” Murphy continued. “Maybe we’ll just play other places next year, moving around to cities we like to play, where we’re wanted, etc.”
