3 Doors Down Singer Brad Arnold Diagnosed With Stage 4 Kidney Cancer

3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold is currently battling stage 4 kidney cancer — and can use some prayers.

Arnold, who is 46 years old, took to Instagram to deliver some concerning news on Wednesday, May 7. He revealed in a video that he had been unwell a few weeks prior, leading him to seek medical attention. The diagnosis he received was clear cell renal carcinoma, which had spread to his lung.

According to the National Cancer Institute, clear cell renal cell carcinoma, or ccRCC, is a type of kidney cancer.

The singer noted that his cancer was labeled as stage 4, which is “not real good,” however he still trusts his faith in God to get him through.

Despite the challenging situation, Arnold expressed his unwavering faith in God’s ability to conquer all obstacles. While he acknowledged the necessity of canceling their upcoming summer tour, he requested support through prayers from his followers to aid him in his journey.

Arnold went on to say maybe he needs to listen to 3 Doors Down’s song “It’s Not My Time.”

“Thank you guys so much. God loves you. We love you. See you,” he shared at the end of the video.

Several other musicians flooded Arnold’s comments section, sending prayers to the singer including Creed singer Scott Stapp.

In a show of solidarity and encouragement, Stapp, aged 51, extended his support to Arnold. He reassured him of his constant prayers and highlighted the strength and faith that Arnold possesses to confront this battle. Stapp’s message conveyed a sense of unity and belief in Arnold’s eventual recovery, emphasizing the power of faith and love during times of adversity.

Arnold was one of the founding members of 3 Doors Down alongside Matt Roberts and Todd Harrell. Chris Henderson later joined the band in 1998. 3 Doors Down, which now consists of Arnold, Henderson, 54, Greg Upchurch, Chet Roberts and Justin Biltonen, rose to fame with their 2000 debut single, “Kryptonite,” and have continued to release hits such as “When I’m Gone” and “Here Without You.”

The band suffered previous hardship in 2016 when Roberts died of a drug overdose in 2016. He was 38. (Roberts previously left the band in 2012 due to health complications.)

Following his death, Arnold shared a tribute to Roberts on the 3 Doors Down social media page.

“Words cannot express our sadness as we hear of the loss of our brother, Matt. He was a truly talented artist and great friend,” he wrote via Facebook. “His memory will live on through the songs we all created. He will be greatly missed.”
