Celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, Eva Herzigova, Elsa Hosk, and Toni Garrn stun in beautiful outfits at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of “A Private Life”.

Scarlett Johansson, Eva Herzigova, Elsa Hosk, and Toni Garrn brought a touch of glamour to the Cannes Film Festival’s A Private Life premiere. Their presence added to the allure of the event.

These stars were among the initial celebrities to grace the premiere of the French film Vie privée (A Private Life), which features Jodie Foster in a leading role. Their appearance garnered a lot of attention and admiration from onlookers.

For the star-studded event, Hollywood sensation Scarlett, 40, showed off her sensational sense of style in a gorgeous baby blue strapless gown.

Her stylish ensemble featured a billowing tulle skirt and she added to her frame in a pair of platform heels as she posed up a storm for the cameras.

Scarlett added a pop of colour with a vibrant rouge lip and accessorised with a dazzling pair of silver droplet earrings.

She swept her golden tresses back into a sleek up-do as she posed alongside American actress June Squibb, 95, on the red carpet. 

It has been a big day for Scarlett as her own directorial debut Eleanor The Great was also unveiled at Cannes Film Festival earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, Eva, 52, put on an elegant display in a vibrant pink strapless mini dress complete with a dramatic full-length skirt at the front.

The Czech model gave a flash of her toned legs as the back of her gown featured a fitted mini skirt and she added to her frame with black pointed heels.

She completed her look with a pair of black elbow-length gloves and added a touch of glitz with a sparkling jewelled choker necklace.

Eva was joined on the red carpet by Swedish model Elsa, 36, who oozed sophistication in a gorgeous strapless cream gown with a feathered skirt. 

She let her outfit do all the talking as she accessorised with a sparkling pendant necklace and droplet earrings.

Elsa swept her golden tresses back into a stylish up-do and accentuated her stunning features with a high-glamour make-up palette. 

German model Toni, 32, showed off her incredible figure in a stunning black lace top with straight leg trousers and a matching cape.

Her ensemble was embellished with an array of sparkling jewels and she added a choker necklace and statement silver earrings to her look. 

Toni bolstered her gorgeous features with a dramatic touch of bronzer as she posed up a storm in front of the cameras. 

Also in attendance were Georgina Chapman and her longtime partner Adrien Brody, who looked as loved-up as ever on the red carpet.

Actress Georgina, 49, the ex-wife of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, looked as glamorous as ever in a one-shouldered pink dress with a ruffled tulle skirt.

She added to her features with a smokey-eye make-up palette as she posed arm-in-arm with American actor Adrien, 52.

Adrien, who has been dating Georgina for five years, cut a dapper figure in a black tuxedo as he looked very loved-up with his partner.

Also among the A-list arrivals were the likes of Brazilian model Izabel Goulart, swimwear designer Kimberley Garner, Dutch model Romee Strijd and singer Ellie Goulding, among many others.

A Private Life (Vie privée) is a French-psychological thriller film in which Jodie Foster stars as psychiatrist Lilian Steiner.

Her character decides to launch a private investigation into the death of one of her patients after she becomes convinced she has been murdered. 

Directed and co-written by Rebecca Zlotowski, Jodie is starring alongside the likes of Daniel Auteuil, Virginie Efira, Mathieu Amalric and Vincent Lacoste.

Jodie, who is fluent in French, has previously starred in other French-language productions including Fleur Bleu when she was just 14 years old.

But it is the first time she has ever taken on a leading role in a French-language film and Jodie told Vanity Fair she felt ‘a lot freer’ on her most recent project.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival is taking place in the wake of Trump´s vow to enact tariffs on international films.

Cannes, where filmmakers, sales agents and journalists gather from around the world, is the Olympics of the big screen, with its own golden prize, the Palme d’Or, to give out at the end. 

Filmmakers come from nearly every corner of the globe to showcase their films while dealmakers work through the night to sell finished films or packaged productions to various territories.

But Trump sent shock waves through Hollywood and the international film community when he announced on May 4 that all movies ‘produced in Foreign Lands’ will face 100 per cent tariffs.

The White House has said no final decisions have been made. Options being explored include federal incentives for US-based productions, rather than tariffs. 

This year, some of the first-time filmmakers at Cannes are already particularly well-known.

Kristen Stewart (The Chronology of Water), Scarlett Johansson (Eleanor the Great) and Harris Dickinson (Urchin) have all unveiled their feature directorial debuts in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard sidebar section.

Many Cannes veterans have returned, including Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning), Robert De Niro – who received an honorary Palme d´Or 49 years after Taxi Driver premiered in Cannes – and Quentin Tarantino, who paid tribute to low-budget Western director George Sherman.

Over recent years, the star-studded extravaganza has arguably won more attention for the outfits worn by its celebrity guests than the roster of feature films being screened on the Croisette. 

But new nudity rules, devised for ‘the sake of decency’, have been implemented at this year’s festival.  

According to organisers, the austere move is an attempt to stifle the celebrity trend for ‘naked dresses’ – namely provocative outfits that reveal considerably more than they conceal – on the red carpet.

‘For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as any other area of the festival,’ states a Cannes festival document.

‘The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.’

It’s understood that the iconic venue now adopts a more conservative dress code, with suits, dinner jackets and floor-length evening gowns generally favoured over headline grabbing ensembles. 

Classic little black dresses, cocktail dresses, pant-suits, dressy tops and elegant sandals, ‘with or without a heel’, will also be permitted.  

While the decision to implement a more stringent policy will be a first, it is not known if French TV broadcasters, wary of airing nudity, played a role in its enforcement.
