Alliance police release body camera footage of deadly officer-involved shooting

The man involved in the shooting with Alliance police was pronounced dead at the scene.

In Ohio’s Alliance, the police department has shared body camera footage of a fatal officer-involved shooting at the Alliance Towers apartment complex. The incident resulted in the death of a man.

Authorities were called to the apartment complex following reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers were faced with gunfire and a chaotic scene. The recently revealed video offers a clear insight into the events leading up to the shooting.

The video depicts four Alliance police officers armed and entering an elevator as they prepared to investigate the reported gunshots. Upon the elevator’s opening, the officers encountered an armed man.

“He’s got a gun,” one officer said.

The officers repeatedly commanded the man to drop his weapon.

“Put it down, on the ground now,” one officer said.

Seconds later, gunfire erupted, followed by a scream.

As officers moved down the hallway toward the suspect, they issued additional commands.

“Get on the ground, drop the weapon,” one officer said.

The audio in the video briefly cut out, but when it resumed, two officers could be seen firing their weapons at the suspect.

After a brief pause, three officers approached the man, who was lying lifeless on the ground, while one officer stayed back.

Police said a woman was also found at the end of the hallway with gunshot wounds. Both she and the suspect were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said they are still investigating the relationship between the two individuals. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the case.
