The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice won’t be splitting a sprinkle cookie anytime soon.
On the Wednesday, December 18, episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Melissa, 45, discussed her reaction to Teresa, 52, her sister-in-law and longtime rival, seemingly trying to take credit for her new cookie company. Teresa had posted a cryptic X on social media after Melissa announced her new venture, implying a connection to it.
During WWHL, Melissa responded to a fan’s question by saying, “Well, she’s welcome for giving her someone to hate on for the last decade. So, she’s welcome!” This comment shed light on the ongoing tension between the two.
Melissa’s reply prompted host Andy Cohen to say, “You’ve both done so much for each other.”
“We really have,” Melissa told Andy.
Melissa shared details about her new brand, Sprinkle by MG, in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly earlier this month.
Melissa, a Bravo star, mentioned to Us that sprinkle cookies are her favorite and explained the significance of launching her own cookie brand. Referring to an infamous scene on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, she expressed her long-held desire to create her own line of sprinkle cookies.
As loyal RHONJ fans know, Gorga’s preference for the Italian sweets were brought to light during season 3 when Teresa recalled throwing away a box of sprinkle cookies that a then-pregnant Gorga brought to her home on Christmas Eve. (The incident, which inspired a TikTok sound, was just one of many that contributed to their ongoing issues.)
“Everywhere I go, people give me sprinkle cookies, [whether] it was at book signings or when they come to Envy,” Gorga continued. “When we go to Dolores’ [Catania’s Battle for Brooklyn’ baseball] games, everyone holds up ‘Team Sprinkle’ [signs].”
Since joining RHONJ during season 3, Melissa and Teresa’s ups and downs have dominated the show’s story lines for the last 11 seasons. However, the two refused to speak to each other on season 14, which aired earlier this year, prompting speculation of a cast shakeup going forward.
For her part, Melissa said she is prepared to leave the show.
“I am prepared for anything at this point, obviously because of all the rumors that are out there,” Melissa said on an August episode of the “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast. “I am fully prepared for anything.”
“I think I would realize that her and I are two extremely different characters, so to speak, on the show,” Melissa told podcast hosts Tamra Judge and Teddi Mellencamp. “So, if Bravo decides to go that route and kind of, like, the darker route, then I need to say that is not a show that I want to be on anyway.”
“I do not want to be on that toxic s–t. As long as you know she is there and that whole thing would come back, I wouldn’t find it as a loss,” she continued. “I also want to say, like, I’ve had a 14-year run … You can’t do it forever. You don’t go and be on a TV show for 50 [or] 20 years. I mean, I’ve been on for 14 years.”
Melissa continued, “So do I want to come back? Do I hope that they do something a little fresh and new? Of course, I’m not gonna lie to everyone. I do hope that there’s some changes, and I don’t know that I’ll be a part of them. I don’t think anybody knows.”
As for the future of RHONJ, producer Cohen told Us exclusively this week that there won’t be an update for some time. “You’re not gonna get it for, like, a year, so everyone stop asking,” he said. “And I keep saying you are going to get nothing, so stop asking!”
