‘The Electric State’ Trailer: Millie Bobby Brown And Chris Pratt Journey Into A Robot Wasteland Wearing Terrible Wigs In This $320 Million Netflix Movie

Millie Bobby Brown is set to star in the upcoming sci-fi film The Electric State after her previous Netflix movie Damsel received mixed reviews.

Directed by the Russo brothers, the film has a massive budget of $320 million and is aimed at family audiences. It is set in the 1990s after a robot rebellion fails, leading to all sentient robots being exiled to a secure area known as the Electric State.

Brown plays the role of Michelle, a young orphan who teams up with a former soldier (played by Chris Pratt) and his robot companion Herman to search for her lost brother in the robot-filled wasteland.

As they travel west to the Exclusion Zone where they meet new robot allies who can possibly help her find her genius younger brother, Michelle realizes there may be more to the robot rebellion than she realizes.

Netflix released the first trailer for the new sci-fi film and it looks… dubious, to say the least.

The trailer resembles an apocalyptic, war-torn drama in many regards. But the black and white footage showing Pratt as a soldier fighting the robot rebellion begins to look preposterous when you realize the sentient robots he’s fighting are all designed to look like cartoons and animatronics.

It’s also impossible to ignore their terrible wigs, which make them look more like rockstars than survivors.

Stanley Tucci also stars, though his role in the film is unclear. In the trailer, his character is questioned over his decision not to own robots. “I never trusted them. They’re not us,” he remarks. “How could they possibly understand our best interests?”

Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, and Giancarlo Esposito will also star alongside Brown and Pratt.

But The Electric State also features a stellar cast of actors who will voice the several robots featured in the film, including Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Anthony Mackie, and Jenny Slate.

The Electric State premieres on Netflix March 14.
