Morgan Wallen Sentenced to 1 Week in DUI Education Center

Morgan Wallen has been sentenced for allegedly throwing a chair from the roof of a Nashville bar nearly eight months ago.

Wallen, age 31, admitted guilt to two misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment without a weapon on Thursday, December 12, according to several sources. The singer was given a sentence of supervised probation lasting for two years and seven days at a DUI education facility.

A report from Billboard mentioned that Wallen, accompanied by his legal counsel and security, appeared in court. Wearing a gray blazer, the artist stood before the judge. This marked Wallen’s first court appearance since the incident in April.

Online records, as seen by Us Weekly, revealed that the original felony charge of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and the misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct were both dropped.

Morgan Wallen’s legal troubles have hindered his attempts to open a bar in Nashville’s busiest nightlife district yet again. Wallen’s long-planned joint venture with TC Restaurant Group, named This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen, failed to open as scheduled this weekend. The delay comes as Wallen is facing three felony counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly […]

“Earlier today (12/12/24), Morgan Wallen appeared in Davidson County Circuit Court with Judge Cynthia Chappell presiding where he entered a conditional plea pursuant to Tennessee’s Diversion Statute that does not result in a conviction,” Wallen’s attorney Worrick Robinson said in a statement to Us on Thursday. “The plea agreement with the Office of the District Attorney requires Mr. Wallen to spend 7 days at a DUI Education Center, be on probation for 2 years — one year for each of the misdemeanor charges for reckless endangerment — pay a $350 fine and court fees. Upon the successful completion of his probation, the charges will be eligible for dismissal and expungement.”

The statement continued: “Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months, directly communicating and apologizing to all involved. Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation.”

Wallen was arrested on April 7 after allegedly throwing a chair from the rooftop of Eric Church’s Chief’s bar in downtown Nashville. Police officers were standing outside of the venue when a chair fell from above them and landed on the ground nearby, the Metro Nashville Police Department confirmed to Us at the time.

Employees at the bar claimed that Wallen tossed the chair from six stories high, according to News Channel 5 Nashville. The arrest report stated that law enforcement later watched a video that showed Wallen “lunging and throwing an object over the roof,” but he ultimately laughed it off. After Wallen was taken into custody, bond was set for $15,250.

Days after his arrest, Wallen finally broke his silence.

“I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks,” the Grammy nominee wrote via X in April. “I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility. I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe.”

Following the arrest and ongoing legal issues, Warren continued with his One Night at a Time tour. As Wallen continued to travel across the country, he waived his right to appear in court amid the balcony incident proceedings, and his attorney attended on his behalf.

“The court has formally waived Morgan Wallen’s appearance on Friday, May 3, as his presence is not required to advance the case,” Wallen’s lawyer said in a statement to Us in May. “The Office of the District Attorney has been notified of the Appearance Waiver.”
