‘Mormon Wives’ Star Mikayla Matthews shares her progress on the healing journey

Just a few weeks ago, Jen Affleck announced she was expecting her third baby, and following closely behind that announcement, Mikayla Matthews announced she’s also pregnant and expecting her fourth baby.

While the second season of the reality show is currently filming and the drama is spilling into social media, it seems the cast is growing with new babies in the mix!

On Thursday, Matthews, 24, shared the “next step” in her current “healing journey” on social media.

“Thought I’d finally announce the next step on my healing journey. Can’t wait to love on this baby,” she captioned a photo of her with her husband, Jace Terry, and three kids holding up sonogram photos. In the carousel of photos, she highlights her growing baby bump.

The couple are parents to daughters Tommie, 3, and Haven, 5, and son Beckham, 7.

“It was definitely a surprise! We were not planning or trying. I miss my period a lot with my health issues, so for me it’s normal to sometimes be off track. Then a month and a half went by and I was telling my friends, like, ‘Maybe I should take a test,’ ” Matthews told PEOPLE.

“I wasn’t having any symptoms which made me think I wasn’t pregnant, because I usually get symptoms very early, like two or three weeks in. Then I take the test and it was instantly positive.”

Matthews continued by saying she didn’t think she could get pregnant at this time because of her “health.”

“My husband was with me when I took the test,” she shared. “He never really has much of a reaction to anything, but we were both pretty in shock. Then it set in and we got really excited. We’re definitely excited, nervous about my health and possibly passing anything on, but excited.”

In just an hour, Matthews’ Instagram announcement received tons of positive attention with more than 72,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

Fellow “Mormon Wives” stars dropped into the comments to share their excitement. Layla Taylor commented, “EKKKKKKKK,” and Jessi Ngatikaura wrote, “AHHH!!!! The best family, can’t wait for a new addition.”

Many fans also shared their happiness for Matthews and her family in the comment section.

“CUTEST FAMILY GETS EVEN CUTER!!! Congratulations, my girl. You so richly deserve all the blessings!!!!” one person wrote. Another added, “Screaming you are stunning!! So happy for you.” One other shared, “Stop it I love this for you. Such a blessing. Congratulations mama.”

A few weeks ago, Matthews shared an update to her ongoing “healing journey” after having her breast implants removed.

“One year [cherry emoji] free [party emoji]. I put it off for a long time (even though I only had them in for 10 months) but it was the best decision I made for my own PERSONAL health. Removing them was the beginning of getting my health back and clearing infection out of my body. Still a long way ahead of me but I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!” she wrote in an Instagram post at the end of January.

The video she shared showed some of her long and difficult journey, which included a variety of terrible symptoms she was dealing with.

Fellow MomTok mom, Mayci Neeley took to the comment section of the video to say, “My girl in her healing era.”

One viewer shared, “I went through almost this same thing with my skin – three major flares so far – and just wanted to say I feel VERY seen by your content. hang in there bb!” Another added, “Thank you for sharing your journey with the world. I know it couldn’t have been easy. I’m sure you have helped so many women. You are beautiful inside and out.”

There will be a few new additions to “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” in the second season now that two of the stars are expecting. And let’s not forget that Taylor Frankie Paul and Whitney Leavitt also welcomed new babies in the past year, so season 2 will be a full house!

MomTok mom, Jen Affleck, announced she’s expecting her third baby with her husband, Zac, just a few weeks ago.

Affleck’s third pregnancy was a surprise and has been “quite a journey.”

“I experienced all the symptoms – nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and mood swings,” she told PEOPLE. “It’s definitely been chaotic, no doubt about it.”

The first season of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” came out in September 2024, and it didn’t take long before fans were hooked and wanting more. Luckily, they didn’t have to wait too long to hear that a second season was in the works!

Season 1 is currently streaming on Hulu and made its broadcast debut on ABC on January 27 as part of ABC’s Winter Programming Line-Up, with an episode airing weekly.

Season 2 is currently filming and will be released on Hulu in May 2025.
