Meghan Markle's Renewed Show Called 'A Business Risk' For Netflix

Meghan Markle’s collaboration with Netflix is under scrutiny yet again, as a well-known British media figure has expressed disappointment regarding her lifestyle show.

Esther Krakue, a prominent political commentator, shared her thoughts on the Duchess of Sussex’s series named “With Love, Meghan,” explaining why it failed to live up to her expectations. She suggested that Netflix might have encountered a significant setback by partnering with the former actress and her spouse, Prince Harry.

Working in conjunction with Netflix, Meghan Markle introduced a lifestyle program that provided viewers with a unique insight into her life following her departure from the Royal Family in 2020. Despite this, critics like Esther Krakue argue that the former “Suits” star does not possess the qualities of a proficient host and therefore should not have a presence on television.

Krakue did not mince her words while addressing Meghan’s eight-part show, claiming she was not “an entertainer or an entertaining person.” The media personality noted the Duchess lacked the vibrant personality needed for TV, saying:

“She’s not a fun person to be around. You don’t think this is the person I want to go to the pub with to have a pint with. It’s very clear that she is not box office in terms of entertainment quality.”

Based on these arguments, Krakue sympathized with Netflix for reportedly spending £78 million in her partnership deal with Harry and Meghan. She told The Sun the streaming giant failed to get the value of their money, noting: “It was obviously a business risk taking them on.”

Esther Krakue Suspects Netflix Might Regret Working With The Sussexes

Krakue claimed that Netflix must have realized they had chosen the wrong duo to work with, arguing that the Sussexes only signed the expensive contract due to their security concerns. Although she labeled Harry and Meghan the “world’s most boring couple,” Krakue noted they could revamp their image.

According to the broadcaster, Meghan struggled to win fans with her lifestyle series. Instead of cooking with her celebrity friends and painting herself as a CEO women could come to for advice, Krakue stressed that the Duchess should focus on her relationship.

“I want to know, how did you bag a prince? What did you do? What were the techniques? Who’s your waxing lady? I want to know the juicy stuff that should make her interesting, but she’s so terrified to tell the public,” Krakue lamented.

When Meghan announced her lifestyle series, many assumed it would be filmed at her home in Montecito. However, The Blast shared that the program was shot in the kitchen of philanthropists Thomas and Sherrie Cipolla, whose residence was two miles away from the Duchess of Sussex’s residence.

Meghan revealed the reason behind this choice at the Time 100 Summit in New York, noting that she did not want strangers intruding on her children’s privacy.

She tried to protect Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s childhood memories by ensuring they could have their afternoon naps and enjoy their freedom.

Fortunately, her team found the perfect alternative in the Cipollas’ $5 million property, which matched the homey atmosphere Meghan was going for.

Before getting bashed for her “boring” lifestyle show, The Blast reported that Meghan faced criticisms for allegedly keeping her distance from her Montecito neighbors. Richard Mineards, a journalist familiar with the area, claimed the former actress “doesn’t play the community game.”

He recalled that an elderly historian from the area once attempted to deliver some documents to Meghan personally. Unfortunately, the old man never made it past her gates. Mineards implied the Duchess preferred to keep to herself, unlike Harry, who was more approachable.

“She’s there, of course, but she shows herself very little. Her relationship with Montecito is … distant, shall we say,” Mineards added. He claimed this distance stemmed from Meghan’s obsession with keeping “a very controlled image” to avoid making the wrong moves or saying the wrong thing.
