Drone video shows man stuck in chimney while allegedly trying to get inside Minority Behavioral Health Group in Akron

The Akron Fire Department was called to the scene where it took several hours to remove him from the chimney.

Akron police have shared drone footage showing a 29-year-old man trapped in a chimney on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred at Minority Behavioral Health Group on East Archwood Avenue at the corner of Inman Street. The man was attempting to enter the closed facility, leading to his predicament.

Authorities were called to the location at approximately 3:15 p.m. following a report of a suspicious individual on the roof. Upon investigation, they discovered the man stuck inside the chimney.

The Akron Fire Department was then called to the scene where it took several hours to remove him from the chimney.

The suspect — who was taken into custody without incident — was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

After being discharged, the man was booked into the Summit County Jail on charges of breaking and entering and criminal trespass.
