Rachel Bilson is definitely a cool mom — just ask her daughter, Briar Rose.
On Friday, June 27, Bilson posted several videos of herself with her 10-year-old daughter, Briar Rose, at Olivia Rodrigo’s concert in Hyde Park, London. Briar Rose is the daughter Bilson shares with her ex-partner, Hayden Christensen.
In an Instagram Story post, Bilson, 43, expressed their love for Olivia Rodrigo, sharing a picture of her daughter with a purple bow in her hair, facing away from the camera. Rodrigo, 22, later shared the post on her own Story and added a purple heart emoji to show her appreciation.
Rodrigo performed alongside The Last Dinner Party and Girl in Red on Friday ahead of her headlining slot at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival.
Through her uploads, Bilson gave fans a rare insight into her life with her daughter, Briar Rose. Bilson and Christensen, who were engaged in 2008, welcomed Briar Rose in October 2014. In September 2017, Us Weekly confirmed the end of Bilson and Christensen’s relationship after being together for 10 years.
In October 2023, Bilson revealed she suffered miscarriages in the past. “I’ve had miscarriages. So I’ve had losses,” Bilson said during an episode of her “Broad Ideas” podcast.
“With birth, I even remember going into [it saying], ‘I’m open to whatever,’” Bilson told listeners, remembering that she “always knew I was going to go to a hospital” and would not try a home birth.
A few months later, Bilson joked that her then-9-year-old daughter had forbidden her from having more children.
“She’s so adamant. She’s like, ‘You’re not allowed to have a baby,’” Bilson shared on her podcast in December 2023. “She’s like, ‘No, you’re not having a baby, Mom.’ Well, it’s just been us. She’s almost 9, you know, so she’s very accustomed to our little situation.”
Bilson’s Hart of Dixie costar Wilson Bethel prompted the conversation after he joked that “adding a baby to the mix” would “shake things up” between Bilson and her daughter.
“I think it might just be the right way to get Briar out of her comfort zone,” he explained. “You know, she comes home from school one day and you’ve adopted a child.”
Bilson went on to recall when she told Briar Rose her cousin was adopted, something she apparently had not yet mentioned at the time. “I was like, ‘Did you not [know]? Did I not tell her?’ And Briar, like, her face, she was like, ‘What the f***, Mom?’” Bilson said. “And I think she felt like everybody knew but her. I know, it’s such a sweet moment.”
