Rebel Wilson Reveals Her Wife's Family Took Time To Accept Their Relationship

During a recent interview, the actress known for her role in “Pitch Perfect” opened up about the differing reactions her family and her spouse’s family had towards their relationship. While her own family was quick to show acceptance and support, Agruma’s family was more hesitant.

Although things weren’t hostile, Rebel admitted that acceptance didn’t come instantly, but thankfully, time and love helped bridge the gap.

Rebel Wilson Says Her Wife’s Family Didn’t Accept Their Romance Initially

During an interview on SiriusXM Hits 1’s show “Ben +1,” Rebel Wilson opened up about the early days of her relationship with Agruma.

The actress shared that for her, the process of coming out and introducing Agruma as her partner was smooth, thanks to the unwavering support of her own family. They welcomed Agruma with open arms right from the start.

On the other hand, Wilson revealed that her spouse’s family did not readily embrace their relationship, citing cultural disparities as the primary reason for their initial reluctance.

The 45-year-old clarified that it wasn’t a hostile rejection, just a need for time and understanding.

“It took them a little bit of time. I think some people from some cultures because it was the same-see wedding, I guess. They just needed a little bit of time, and now you wouldn’t even notice that anything happened previously,” she said per PEOPLE Magazine.

Rebel Wilson further described the turnout of events as “a happy ending,” adding that her wife’s parents had visited and stayed with them at their new house, and there was never any feuding.

“It took them time, which is fair enough. They’re from a different culture, but all worked out in the end, which I think is a good message,” she explained.

Wilson Makes Her Relationship Public

The start of Rebel Wilson and Agruma’s relationship remains unofficial, but the couple went public with it in June 2022.

Taking to Instagram, the “Senior Year” star shared a selfie of her and her wife looking thrilled.

Both women donned black outfits and rocked their blonde hair with style, topping the chic look off with subtle makeup. Wilson and Agruma looked happy as they smiled heartily from ear to ear.

“I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince…but maybe what I really needed was a Disney Princess #loveislove#,” she captioned the post.

Five months after publicly revealing their relationship, the lovebirds became parents for the first time. The actress welcomed her daughter Royce Lilian via surrogacy and shared the good news on her Instagram account.

Rebel Wilson Ties The Knot

While navigating parenthood, Wilson decided to take her relationship with Agruma further by popping the big question at Disneyland. On September 28, 2024, the couple tied the knot in a lavish wedding in Italy.

The ceremony took place at Hotel Cala di Volpe in Porto Cervi on the Italian Island of Sardinia. For the pair, getting married in Italy was highly significant as it was the location of their first vacation as a couple.

Two days after the wedding, Wilson gave her Instagram fans a peek into her destination wedding. She shared a stunning photo of herself and Agruma holding hands.

The couple looked dazzling in white, overflowing wedding dresses while holding white flower bouquets.

Wilson and Agruma looked in love as they gazed at each other, wearing big smiles. Fans couldn’t contain their joy. In no time, the comments section was filled with congratulatory messages and well-wishes for the pair.

Wilson Married Agruma Again

Following the Italian wedding, Rebel Wilson married Ramona Agruma for the second time in Australia. She confirmed the news in an Instagram post in December 2024, sharing a series of photos.

In the post, the actress revealed that her sister, Liberty, officiated the wedding, which their closest friends and family attended.

“My sister Liberty officiated our legal wedding in Sydney. It meant my 94-year-old grandmother Gar could come which was very special to us to have her included and just felt right to do it in my hometown at this glorious time of the year,” she captioned the post.
