Sara Waisglass has a message for those people who “didn’t like” Ginny & Georgia.
The actress, who portrays Max in the popular Netflix series, shared some recommendations on TikTok for those who weren’t fans of Ginny & Georgia. Instead of suggesting other shows, she humorously advised viewers to “try again.”
In her TikTok video posted on June 30, the 26-year-old expressed her gratitude to everyone who watched Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia. She appreciated the viewers’ comments and thanked them for joining the journey.
Ginny & Georgia, which debuted in 2021, tells the story of a young single mother who relocates her family to Wellsbury, Massachusetts, to start anew. The series features a talented cast including Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry, Diesel La Torraca, Felix Mallard, Raymond Ablack, and Scott Porter.
As the show has continued to grow, so has its fan base. Ginny & Georgia was renewed for a fourth season before its third premiered last month — with the cast hoping to get even more episodes in the future.
“Our creator, Sarah [Lampert], is an infinite well of stories. I’m sure we could spin this thing for an awful long time,” Porter, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly in June. “And it’s up to Netflix on whether or not we continue on. But, let me just say to our viewers, thank you so much for tuning in over these first three seasons. We never expected the show to be a hit the way that it is — and it’s all because of you all. So thank you.”
With success has also come criticism. Season 3 aired after a two-year hiatus, leaving fans worried that La Torraca’s real-life growth spurt would cause Austin to be recast in season 4.
Season 2 wrapped up filming in early 2022, but production on the third installment was delayed due to the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. While some viewers thought this meant Austin could get replaced with a new actor, Lampert had different ideas.
“Anyone who works on the show will tell you I am fastidious about the details. I am just specific with so many things. Then things like Diesel growing five years [older], I’m like, ‘Whatever.’ Because you can’t control it,” she told Us in June. “We can’t recast. Diesel is Austin.”
La Torraca, 14, addressed the concern last month while describing the creative ways the show disguised his obvious growth spurt.
“Well, honestly, we kind of ignore it a little bit!” he told Teen Vogue. “It’s kind of just like … there’s a 14-year-old sitting at the table with Harry Potter glasses on that’s supposed to be 9. And that’s OK! In some shots, I did have to bend my knees a little bit to look a little shorter than [Antonia], or they got her an apple box a few times, but for the most part, we’ve kind of just kept the show running.”
La Torraca continued: “Playing a 9-year-old for six years when you are growing … I’ve grown with him, but I’ve also kind of departed from him because I was 8 when we started, now I’m 14. There are a lot of differences in the way that he would move and act and speak. I have to heighten my voice register, slouch a little bit [to] feel like I’m actually a shy, insecure 9-year-old.”
Ginny and Georgia is currently streaming on Netflix.
