Meghan Markle visited The Drew Barrymore Show and shared candid moments with the actress discussing her relationship with Prince Harry, her new Netflix show, and Barrymore’s childhood memory of Princess Diana on Thursday (March 6).
While promoting her new lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, Markle joined Drew Barrymore in a cooking segment where the 50 First Dates star surprised her with a photo of when she met Princess Diana at the 1982 London premiere of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
“Oh, how sweet. Oh, that’s beautiful,” Markle expressed as they admired the photo. “Oh my gosh. Look at your little face! Oh, that’s so sweet. That is so special that you had it here. Oh!” The heartwarming photo captured Barrymore at seven years old presenting Princess Diana with an E.T. stuffed animal.
“I was lucky enough,” Barrymore began to say as she held the photo.
“That’s really special,” Markle commented.
Barrymore continued, “It means so much to me to have met such an incredible human being that transcended everything. It was the honor of my life.”
They then shared a bit of an awkward moment when Barrymore could not contain her excitement. “Oh my gosh, well, I will tell H that for sure,” Markle responded, referring to her husband Prince Harry.
“Okay, cool,” Barrymore excitedly replied.
The ladies shared another hilarious moment when Barrymore told Markle that she and Prince Harry have become known for how “hot” they are for each other.
“Every time I ever know anyone who ever knows you guys talk about how hot — this is the keyword. Everyone. And they are different people from different walks of lives,” Barrymore began to say, while Markle nervously asked the audience with a laugh, “What is she about to say?”
But Barrymore continued, “They go, ‘They’re so hot for each other.’”
With a giggle, Markle began gushing over her partner, “I did not expect to meet H and for this to be our love story. I’m very lucky I’m married to the funniest, sweetest, most charming … and he’s an amazing father. I count my blessings because I have him.”
