Even though Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) may not receive as much attention as other outspoken GOP members of Congress, he has been gaining recognition since assuming office. Most notably, he recently made headlines by confronting USA Fencing Chairman Damien Lehfeldt during a Congressional hearing, criticizing him for allegedly attacking parents who oppose males participating in their daughters’ sports.
Gill has been vocal about his stance on discontinuing funding for NPR and PBS, citing their perceived liberal bias. He highlighted this viewpoint during a House Subcommittee on Government Efficiency session and in appearances on various cable news networks, including those with conflicting ideologies such as CNN.
During a heated exchange with CNN anchor Paula Brown in February, Gill emphasized his objection to the United States allocating “over $500 million annually to support state-sponsored media like NPR and PBS, which he believes promote values contrary to the American way of life.
