The contentious legal battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie began after Jolie initiated divorce proceedings in September 2016, marking a stark contrast to their previous relationship.
Rumors suggest that the Academy Award winners developed feelings for each other on the set of the 2005 action movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith. This sparked controversy due to Pitt’s marriage to Jennifer Aniston</strong at the time, leading to Aniston filing for divorce from Pitt in March 2005.
In the following years, Pitt and Jolie expanded their family, welcoming daughter Shiloh in 2006, adopting son Maddox and daughter Zahara the same year, and welcoming son Pax in 2007 (later followed by Pitt’s official adoption in 2008). Their twins, Knox and Vivienne, were born in July 2008.
The couple officially tied the knot in France in August 2014, only to call it quits two years later. Jolie has accused her ex of being “physically and emotionally abusive” toward her and their kids on a September 2016 flight from California to France, which Pitt denied. The pair settled their divorce eight years later in December 2024.
