Meghan Markle's Vanity Fair Cover Was Reportedly A Major 'Eye-Opener' For The Royal Family

She accused the Duchess of Sussex of being “desperate for attention,” explaining it was the reason why she launched a flurry of new businesses.

The former Vanity Fair editor-in-chief went further, slamming Meghan Markle as “enormously shallow” and “unadvisable.”

After previously criticizing Meghan following the launch of her Netflix cooking show, Tina Brown has once again ripped into the former actress.

This time, the 71-year-old slammed the mother of two as “desperate for attention” for launching multiple businesses within a short period.

The former editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair expressed concerns about Meghan Markle, labeling her as having Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) during a recent interview on the Mixed Signals for Semafor Media podcast. According to reports by the Daily Mail, the editor highlighted that Meghan tends to make announcements but fails to follow through on them.

Brown went on to suggest Meghan is “devoid of self-confidence” as a further explanation for the duchess’ multiple new business ventures.

He also mentioned that Meghan often tries to emulate figures like Beyoncé and Michelle Obama, seeking instant fame and recognition without having the solid foundation and experience that shaped these iconic personalities. The editor emphasized the importance of a strong background to support one’s aspirations and achievements, a quality he believes Meghan lacks.

Tina Brown Called The Duchess ‘Enormously Shallow’ And ‘Unadvisable’

Despite previous criticisms from the former editor, Meghan Markle has continued to pursue her ventures. She recently launched her brand, As Ever, and made a return to podcasting with the premiere of “Confessions of a Female Founder.” This indicates her resilience and determination to carve out her own path in the public eye.

While items from the brand sold out quickly, the podcast didn’t enjoy the same success as her earlier series, “Archetypes.”

Taking aim at these developments, Brown suggested that Meghan would be far more fulfilled if she focused on one project at a time.

“If she’d simply succeeded at one thing, and then done another thing, she’d be in a much, much better place,” the Princess Diana biographer remarked. “But she’s enormously shallow in her approach to the work she does.”

Brown also pointed out that she doesn’t expect Meghan would change her ways, claiming the mother of two acts like she is an island.

“What I hear from everyone is that she’s unadvisable, and that is the issue,” Brown added. “She’s worn out her advisory circle, who just feel like, well, what’s the point? She’s not going to do it.”

In her previous criticism of Meghan over her cooking show, “With Love, Meghan,” Brown claimed that the show is proof that the former actress has an “unerring instinct for getting it wrong.”

According to the journalist, Meghan has also “never figured out a convincing persona” and would have had more success creating a show about “what a spectacular failure the past five years [of her life] have been.”

At the time, Brown also took a dig at Meghan’s approach to promoting her lifestyle brand, which was previously named American Riviera Orchard but was changed due to it being too restrictive.

“Who announces a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and hounds celebrity friends to talk up her strawberry jam on social media without doing due diligence on the availability of the trademark?” Brown questioned mockingly.

Brown isn’t the only one who has criticized Meghan’s new business ventures.

The Times of London’s columnist James Marriott slammed the podcast as “Meghan’s vapid lessons in self-love,” while a writer for the Guardian noted that it was “stomach-turning” and “sycophantic.”

Further slamming the new project was Telegraph’s TV critic Chris Bennion. He claimed it was an “inane stream of mindless aphorisms” with “no confessions or secrets.”

Similar words were used to describe Meghan’s cooking show, which debuted on Netflix early last month.

An outlet reviewed it as “a Montecito ego trip not worth taking,” while another slammed it as “a ghastly artifact of a particular cultural era that recently met its apocalypse,” per the Daily Mail.
