Tom Green, Drew Barrymore’s Former Husband of 20 Years, Announces Engagement

Drew Barrymore‘s ex-husband, Tom Green, is ready to say “I do” once again!

The comedian is getting married again, this time to Barrymore, after their brief relationship twenty years ago. The couple reunited emotionally on Barrymore’s talk show in 2021, expressing their lasting love for each other.

Tom Green’s upcoming wedding marks a fresh chapter in his life, years after his marriage to Drew Barrymore, which lasted from 2001 to 2002. 

Green has spent years focusing on his career and reconnecting with old friends, like his ex-wife Barrymore, and now feels ready for a new beginning. He announced the engagement on Instagram, expressing his joy and calling himself the luckiest man in the world.

“Exciting news! Amanda and I are engaged! I feel incredibly lucky. Amanda, I love you. Wishing everyone Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from both of us!,” Green shared enthusiastically in the caption.

While the newly engaged star kept details about his fiancée under wraps, he delighted fans with several cozy photos of the couple. In one wintery snapshot, Amanda proudly displayed her sparkling engagement ring, giving followers a glimpse of their joyous moment.

The post was met with a flood of congratulatory messages from fans, like one who excited wrote, “Sweet! So Lovely! Congratulations!” Another gushed, “Yesssss! Such lovely news to read. Congratulations to you both!” A third follower expressed their joy, stating:

“That is absolutely wonderful!” while a fourth referedd to Green as a “lucky man.” 

Green’s recent engagement announcement is sure to remind fans of his heartfelt reunion with ex-wife Barrymore on her talk show in 2021. During his appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” he reflected on their whirlwind marriage, fondly recalling their honeymoon.

He also described reconnecting with her as “an out-of-body experience.” The Blast reported that the reunion took a tender turn when Green expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect. 

“It’s very nice to see you. It does feel weird, though,” hestated before adding, “This is cool. I actually think this is a nice way of reconnecting, actually. It takes a little bit of the pressure off.

The emotional highlight came when Barrymore told the actor “Well, I respect and love you,” prompting Green to reply, “Love you, too.”

Barrymore’s romantic history is interesting. She has three marriages, each marking unique chapters of her life. Before her whirlwind union with Green, the 49-year-old was briefly married to Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995.

In 2012, she tied the knot with Will Kopelman, with whom she shares two daughters, Olive and Frankie before they divorced in 2016. Barrymore and Green’s romance blossomed on the set of “Charlie’s Angels” in 2000.

The former couple married in 2001, but their union was short-lived, ending in divorce just a year later. Reflecting on the relationship during a 2020 interview with Howard Stern, Barrymore admitted, “We were young and kind of idiots. I didn’t know how to manage myself.” She added:

“I’ve always said I was a woman in the boardroom and a child in the bedroom. I could go into a studio and pitch … but I didn’t know how to handle things in my personal life.”

Just like her marriages, Barrymore has had her fair share of dating and has no qualms talking about them. In May, The Blast reported that the mother-of-two opened up about a first date that had her questioning whether she would make it out alive.

“The Wedding Singer” star was on a date with a man she thought she knew, feeling safe because they had mutual acquaintances. When he invited her to his apartment, she did not think twice—until things took a strange turn. 

While touring his home, the pair ventured into the basement, where Barrymore noticed a large roll of “clear plastic whatever it is,” which set off alarm bells in her mind.

Barrymore noted that after they got back upstairs, she told him bluntly, “I know we don’t really know each other but I was really afraid that you were going to murder me.” 

Fortunately, that was not the case. The actress revealed that the awkward moment bonded them for years and became a running joke in their friendship.

Barrymore’s dating life has provided plenty of fodder for her talk show, and one of her most memorable stories involves a dating app disaster. 

The Flower Films founder shared a hilarious tale of being misled by a man who claimed to be the quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams. She recalled telling him about how frustrating it was “being a girl from Los Angeles who loves football,” only to have him lie about his career.

“He was not the quarterback for the LA Rams. He’s a musician who thought he was being cute,” she revealed. Barrymore was clearly annoyed, explaining to co-host Ross Mathews how “lied to, robbed” she felt. 

Though Tom Green’s upcoming wedding marks an exciting new chapter in his life, it is clear that his past with Drew Barrymore remains a lasting, respectful connection.
