R.I.P. Francisco San Martin: ‘Days Of Our Lives’ And ‘Jane The Virgin’ Actor Dead At 39

Actor Francisco San Martin, best known for his work on Days of our Lives and Jane The Virgin, has died. He was 39.

San Martin died Jan. 16 in his Los Angeles home. Deadline reports the death was ruled suicide by hanging.

San Martin, born in Mallorca, Spain in 1985, started his acting career by appearing on Days of Our Lives as Dario Hernandez, a small-time criminal who relocates to Salem to solve a cold case.

Dario later moved to Argentina for a job, marking the end of San Martin’s time on the show in 2011. The role was later taken over by Jordi Vilasuso.

San Martin’s Days co-star Camila Banus penned a tribute to the late actor on social media after the news of his death broke.

San Martin’s touching farewell message to Pepe expresses her love for him and regrets not sharing her feelings more openly, as reported by Deadline.

Aside from his role on Days of Our Lives, San Martin is also known for portraying the romantic character Fabian on the CW series Jane the Virgin, where he played an actor who starred alongside Jane’s dad, Rogelio, in a telenovela.

San Martin’s other acting credits include a brief stint on The Bold and the Beautiful and the 2013 Steven Soderbergh film Behind The Candelabra, starring Matt Damon and Michael Douglas.

San Martin got his start in acting as a young boy performing in children’s theater while growing up in Montana. He later moved back to Spain to pursue a career in acting and modeling, per The New York Post.
