Tyler Perry gives a direct response to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s question

Despite media curiosity, the famous director avoided detailed discussions about their relationship, emphasizing privacy.

Tyler Perry, however, praised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bond, describing it as “real and beautiful.”

Perry chose not to disclose the assistance he provided to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as they departed the royal family in 2020, as revealed during an interview with the Sunday Times.

During that period, the filmmaker extended an offer to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, granting them access to his California residence, a private jet, and additional security as they navigated their transition out of royal responsibilities.

Nonetheless, when questioned at a public gathering about his involvement in aiding the couple with their relocation, Perry responded by saying, “There was no necessity for me to assist. Meghan hails from California and possesses a deep understanding of the area, thus requiring no special preparation.”

The interview reportedly became less open when the conversation turned to Meghan, with Perry noticeably reluctant to discuss their friendship.

“I will say this,” he said. “What I learnt about mentioning them — because there’s this insatiable appetite to know all about them — is that any question that is asked becomes the headline of anything I say.”

When Perry was asked why Meghan and Harry generated so much public curiosity, the filmmaker retorted, “You’re from the UK, you tell me.”

He remained unfazed after the interviewer noted that the fascination extends to the U.S.

“You would know better than I would because I’m not paying attention to that world,” Perry replied, signaling an end to the topic with, “Next scene.”

In a November 2023 episode of the “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast, Perry revealed how he worked to protect Meghan and Harry’s privacy while they stayed in his mansion for four months before purchasing their $14 million Montecito home.

According to Page Six, he admitted to monitoring daily media headlines to ensure paparazzi hadn’t discovered their location.

Additionally, in their December 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan disclosed they hadn’t met Perry before moving into his $18 million Beverly Hills estate.

Reflecting on the move, Meghan said, “I was a wreck, just crying and crying. Sometimes, it’s easier to open up to someone who knows nothing at all, and that was that moment with me and Tyler.”

She described their temporary refuge as “bliss because no one knew we were there.”

Meghan and Perry remain close friends, as she and Harry named him as the godfather of their daughter, Lilibet, born in 2021.

The Duchess of Sussex recently attended Perry’s Paley Honors Fall Gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

At the event, Meghan radiated confidence as she posed solo for photos before warmly embracing Perry on the red carpet.

The 43-year-old former “Suits” star stunned in a black strapless Oscar de la Renta gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and a thigh-high slit.

Her ensemble was complemented by a custom Logan Hollowell diamond necklace, a gold Cartier Love bracelet, and sleek black open-toed heels, and she styled her hair in a relaxed bun.

Perry looked dapper in a black patterned tuxedo jacket, tailored black trousers, polished black shoes, and his signature glasses.

During an interview with E! News at the Paley Honors Fall Gala, Perry praised the strong bond between Harry and Meghan.

“They love each other,” the actor said. “They have a beautiful family, and I just want the best for them.”

Reflecting on his connection with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Perry described their relationship as “a real, pure and beautiful friendship.”

As godfather to Harry and Meghan’s 3-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, Perry revealed that his duties don’t include showering her or her 5-year-old brother, Prince Archie, with extravagant gifts.

The “Madea” creator explained: “Even for my own son, we’re very limited in gifts because we don’t want them to ever think that you should just get things because you are born to someone. You should earn it.”

Perry’s remarks come after Harry called out trolls who spread false rumors about his and Meghan’s relationship.

The duke attended the DealBook Summit in New York as a keynote speaker, where event founder Andrew Ross Sorkin questioned him about the public’s obsession with their relationship.

According to the Daily Mail, Sorkin brought up the rumors surrounding their separate appearances, stating, “They’re fascinated Meghan is in California right now, and you’re here. There are articles left and right about: ‘Why are you making, doing independent events? Why aren’t you doing them together?”

However, Harry dismissed the rumors, joking, “Apparently, we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10 or 12 times as well. So it’s just like, ‘what?.'”

The prince went on to address online trolls, saying he feels “genuinely sorry” for those who eagerly spread false rumors, adding, “Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.”
