Taylor Swift is by boyfriend Travis Kelce’s side as he copes with his recent Super Bowl loss.
“Taylor is there for Travis to support him during this challenging period, doing her best to provide him with as much support as she can,” a source exclusively shared with Us Weekly. “The outcome of the game was clearly not what they had hoped for.”
In Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, February 9, Kelce, 35, and the Kansas City Chiefs went head-to-head with the Philadelphia Eagles. Swift, also 35, attended the game at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans to show her support for the tight end. She was accompanied by her closest friends, including Ice Spice and the Haim sisters, to witness the match.
Despite the Chiefs’ impressive performance during the regular season, they were unable to secure victory against the Eagles, ultimately losing the game 40-22. Kelce, on his part, delivered his least impressive Super Bowl performance to date, recording just four catches for 39 yards.
While Swift has been rooting for Kelce and the Chiefs all season long, the insider explains that the pop star “tries to stay in her lane when it comes to the sport and just be as supportive as possible.”
Following the loss, Kelce spoke to reporters in the locker room, congratulating the Eagles on a well-played game.
“Hats off to the Eagles, man,” he said per footage shared via X on Sunday. “They got after us. All three phases.”
When asked what went wrong for the Chiefs, Kelce explained that he and his team “couldn’t get it going offensively” against the Eagles’ strong defense.
“They just got after us on all three phases, and on top of that, turnovers, penalties, playing behind the sticks on offense … dropped passes, not taking advantage of the play call and executing them,” he reflected. “There’s a lot that goes into it. You don’t lose like that without everything going bad.”
The Super Bowl wasn’t just a rough outing for Kelce. Swift, for her part, was also booed by members of the crowd after she was shown on the jumbotron. At the time, Swift appeared confused and turned to friend Ice Spice to ask, “What’s going on?”
While it is unclear why Swift was booed, it may have to do with her affiliation with the Chiefs —- the entire team was booed when they entered the stadium.
Many stars, including Serena Williams, jumped to Swift’s defense following the tense crowd moment.
“I love you @taylorswift13,” Williams, 43, wrote via X on Sunday. “Don’t listen to those booos!!”
