Southern Charm's Venita Slams Show for Presenting Her as 'Home Wrecker'

Venita Aspen, a cast member of Southern Charm, is expressing her dissatisfaction with her portrayal on the show, particularly regarding the portrayal of her alleged relationship with fellow cast member Jarret “JT” Thomas.

In a passionate Instagram Story posted on Saturday, March 1, Aspen clarified, “Let me make something VERY CLEAR. That dinner JT and I had after I made a Branzino was AFTER the Bahamas yall as an audience saw it BEFORE.”

She went on to express, “So this weeks episode is now making me look like I’m a home wrecker when I’m not. I know what I signed up for but I also will not allow the world to think I’m that woman when I’m not.”

“Make sure you add this screenshot to all of the Reddit threads,” she concluded.

Us Weekly has reached out to Bravo for comment.

In the February 6 episode of Bravo’s hit reality television series, JT and Aspen discussed their obvious chemistry before JT ultimately tells her that he has started dating someone else. “Do I know we had chemistry? Am I extremely attracted to you? Yes,” he told her at the time. “But, I’m just being real, I’m seeing someone.”

“I won’t say I knew he had a girlfriend, I can say I knew he was talking to someone but it wasn’t a ‘this is who I’m dating,” Aspen said in the confessional booth during the same episode. She added, “I’m equally part angry and equally part sad, ’cause how long have we been flirting?”

The so-called drama continued during a preview of another episode, in which Aspen is seen telling another cast member JT has been texting her. “He has feelings for you? Like more than a friend, or no?” the person asked, to which Aspen nodded and smiled.

While speaking on the “The Viall Files” podcast on Tuesday, February 25, Aspen said the woman JT was dating decided to “annihilate me on social media” after a teaser for the series aired.

“That he was dating, that I was unaware of,” she said at the time. “And basically, like, calls me out on my name. And I was just like, ‘Hey, I don’t what’s going on with this. I need you to put a handle on it.’ And he was like, ‘I can’t do anything about it.’”

JT raised eyebrows when he left the series in the weeks before the premiere of season 10. “I think it became more of this, like, he caught the house on fire and then stepped away when everyone had a reaction — and not a good one,” said former costar Madison LeCroy in December 2024. “He was no longer wanted in the group.”

LeCroy also said she felt like JT wanted to be a villain on the series. “He realized really quick that wasn’t going to last,” she added.
