Top Celebrities Shine at 2025 Met Gala, With Zendaya, Miley Cyrus, Gigi Hadid, and Lana del Rey Setting the Fashion Trends for the Evening

Fashion’s biggest night out kicked off with plenty of glamour and glitz on Monday, May 5th at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Zendaya made a statement in a white suit and hat combination as she posed up a storm on the Met Gala red carpet. 

Gigi Hadid glittered in a gold halter dress, complete with ruching along her waist.

Miley Cyrus flashed her abs in a black ball skirt with a textured long-sleeve black crop top.

Lana del Rey looked like a classic movie star in her black and chocolate brown look, complete with a large bow on one shoulder.

Every year, the exclusive event features a specific theme. The theme for this year is ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ which draws inspiration from Monica Miller’s research, notably her publication Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.

Monica is the chair of Africana Studies at Barnard College, as well as a professor at the institute.

The 2025 gala theme focuses on menswear, 22 years after the ‘Men In Skirts’ theme – which was the first gala to focus only on menswear. 

Monica describes Black dandyism as a method and a resource for reevaluating one’s identity, envisioning oneself in a new light. She emphasizes the importance of challenging boundaries, particularly in historical contexts like enslavement, to redefine concepts of humanity, as reported by Vogue.

The Met Gala 2025 will have Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour as co-chairs, while Lebron James will serve as the honorary chair for the event.
