An Alabama school teacher has been arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
According to the Tuscaloosa Thread, 28-year-old Rodrique Peyton Ramzy Jr. was taken into custody by Tuscaloosa County deputies on Saturday. Ramzy faced charges of second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy, and engaging in a sexual relationship with a student while employed at a school.
Dr. Keri Johnson, the superintendent of Tuscaloosa County Schools, communicated via email on Sunday that Ramzy had been placed on administrative leave and was not permitted on the school premises, as per WBMA reports.
Dr. Johnson expressed that the Tuscaloosa County School System maintains high standards for all its staff members. Upholding professionalism and integrity is paramount among employees. Dr. Johnson emphasized that all reports of misconduct, whether involving staff or students, are taken seriously by TCSS. The Thread said that Ramzy has been released on a $15,000 bond.
