Who is Cameron Kalani ?
A mentally ill man “knew where he was” when he tried to scale the wall at Buckingham Palace, a court heard today. (Fri)
Cameron Kalani was seen by security guards entering The Royal Mews at the Palace on May 10, just days after a couple climbed the fence at Windsor Castle.
Kalani, of Haywards Heath, West Sussex, appeared in Westminster Magistrates Court to admit illegal entry into a protected site, possessing a kitchen knife and possession of a cocaine wrapper.
Wearing a dark green jacket over black clothing, Kalani showed no emotion on the bench when he pleaded guilty.
Prosecutor Alex Alawode said: “ On May 10 of this year, around 4.30am, a security officer or fire marshal near Buckingham Palace Road saw the defendant attempt to climb the fence and trespass onto the grounds. .
He seemed to climb the fence into the stables and then back onto Buckingham Palace Road.

He is 44 year old.
Arrested and Charged
“At the time, it was described that the defendant appeared to be confused without knowing where he was or what was happening.”
The trespassing charge alleges that Kalani ‘entered or was at a protected site that was a designated site, namely The Royal Mews, Buckingham Palace’, contrary to section 128 of the Serious Organized Crime and Police Act of 2005.
Kalani has ‘schizoaffective disorder’ and it is possible that he was having an episode at the time.
He was sent to a psychiatric hospital on the day of his arrest.
Advocate Natasha Lake said: “Essentially, Mr. Kalani claims that he did not know or suspect that the site in question was Buckingham Palace.”
