She hasn’t been seen on the big screen since appearing in her partner Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut in 2014.
But Eva Mendes sounded as if she might be ready to return to acting in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald that was published Saturday.
When asked about her priorities, the 46-year-old actress said that her ‘ambition’ to act was starting to make a comeback.
Plotting her return: Eva Mendes, 46, hinted that she might return to acting in an interview Saturday with the Sydney Morning Herald, after taking six years off to raise her two kids with Ryan Gosling
‘I feel like, as far as my ambition, it didn’t go away, it just shifted onto the children,’ Eva explained.
‘I applaud and look up to those women who can do it all, but I’m not one of them — and, thankfully, I have a choice not to work and I realize how fortunate I am that it’s even a choice.
‘I’ve been so happy to be able to incubate with my babies, but now they are four and six, I’m starting to feel like my ambition is coming back,’ she said.
Renewed ambition: ‘I’ve been so happy to be able to incubate with my babies, but now they are four and six, I’m starting to feel like my ambition is coming back,’ she said
She described having daughters Esmeralda, six, and Amada, four, with Ryan as like ‘running some kind of bed-and-breakfast with very drunk and aggressive guests’
The devoted couple began their relationship in 2011, after they met on the set of the crime drama The Place Beyond The Pines, which also starred Bradley Cooper.
Elsewhere in the interview, she described the surreal scene of raising of two young children.
‘Sometimes it feels like we are running some kind of bed-and-breakfast with very drunk and aggressive guests,’ she said, laughing.
‘We really do feel like we are working in a hotel, and the guests are angry and bossy and demand food brought to them. And by the time they go to sleep, we’re left to just clean up and talk about how they’ve treated us that day!’
Honored: Eva was speaking with the publication after being named the ambassador for McDonald’s Australia’s McHappy Day, though she won’t attend in November due to the pandemic; shown in February
Eva was speaking with the publication after being named the ambassador for McDonald’s Australia’s McHappy Day, a position that Katie Holmes, Naomi Watts and Benji and Joel Madden have previously held, among other celebrities.
Although the Hitch actress won’t be traveling to Australia due to the global pandemic, she had plenty of praise for the Ronald McDonald House, which had played an important role in her family members’ lives.
‘About five years ago, my cousin Linda’s 18-month-old son, Andrew, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, and it was one of the scariest, most challenging times in her life,’ she recalled.
‘When she had to take Andrew to New York for treatment, I begged her to let us help. I said, “Do you need an apartment next to the hospital? We’ll do anything for you, just ask.” That’s when she told me about RMHC and what an incredible support system it was for her and others in the same position.
‘She loved it even more when her second son was born and she had to go back to New York, because they had activities for the siblings and really helped with the little things nobody thinks about in such an unimaginable situation,’ she added.
Opening up: Earlier this month, Eva cheekily confirmed that she’s happy raising her family at home while commenting on a throwback Instagram photo
Home life: After a commenter said her partner should ‘get you out more,’ she replied, ‘no thank you, I’m good. Rather be home with my man than anywhere else in the world’
Earlier this month, Eva cheekily confirmed that she’s happy raising her family at home on an Instagram photo.
She posted a stunning black and white throwback of herself in a black dress as she ran on the beach.
‘Went for a run on the beach this morning,’ she wrote in the caption, before contradicting herself.
‘No I didn’t. This picture was taken 15 years ago. Haven’t seen a beach this year. Haven’t been on a run this year.’
After a commenter said she needed ‘to tell Ryan to get you out more,’ she replied: ‘no thank you, I’m good. Rather be home with my man than anywhere else in the world.’
