Floyd Mayweather Jr. took to the microphone prior to his fight with Deji to make it clear that he still won’t fight Jake Paul.
Jake Paul has made a point of wanting to get Mayweather’s attention for a fight. However, the undefeated pound-for-pound fighter mentioned that Paul has a fight pending.
Mayweather believes Jake Paul has yet to face a good fighter
Jake Paul is coming off of defeating Anderson Silva. Paul is 22 years younger than Silva and his win is the most important of his ‘professional’ career.
However, Mayweather still believes Jake Paul has yet to face a proper boxer.
“You see, a lot of times when you say certain things, you don’t want what you say you want.” Mayweather confirmed in his pre-fight press conference.
“So Jake Paul has problems here. I mean, he’s doing well for what he’s doing. Like I said, for what he’s doing. It is what it is, it’s a lot of talk.
“Once he faces a real fighter, who can really fight, it’s over for him. So he’s got to enjoy it while he can. Is he doing well? Absolutely, for what he’s doing. Guys in their 50s, guys in their 40s, of course.”
Jake Paul traveled to Dubai to witness Mayweather’s fight against Deji and at the same time, to try and tempt Tommy Fury into being his next opponent.
“Does he want to fight me? Of course, I’m almost 50, of course he wants to fight me,” Mayweather concluded.
