Casemiro wasn’t happy with the reaction of the Real Madrid supporters after Gareth Bale came off the bench in their 2-0 victory over Getafe at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

Los Blancos‘ fans whistled the Wales international when he was brought on by Carlo Ancelotti to replace Karim Benzema with 16 minutes to go.

“When a player is whistled at, we all are whistled at,” Casemiro said during Monday’s pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Chelsea.

“You can’t agree with that. I didn’t like it, because Bale is historic. When a player like that is whistled at, the history of this club is whistled at. I hope that people give us goosebumps tomorrow. We need them.”

After Real Madrid‘s 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel was adamant that Chelsea don’t have a chance to qualify, but Casemiro has stressed that nothing is over yet.

“We can’t trust anything, no matter what Tuchel said,” added Casemiro.

“They are the current champions. We need the fans. The key to everything is the [Real Madrid] badge, winning when nobody believes it. As they say: ‘Until the end, let’s go Real’.

“We do not trust anything, even if we played the best 90 minutes of the season there. It will be hard, we need our people [to cheer us on].”

Casemiro regretted complaining to the referee who showed him a yellow card against Getafe, which means he will see him miss out on Real Madrid‘s meeting with Sevilla on Sunday.

“Everyone wants to defend their own interests, but always with respect. [These are] the values that my mother gave me,” he noted.

“We misplace passes, [referees] make some [wrong] decisions, but we want the best for what we do. What happens on the pitch stays there.

“I shouldn’t get cards for protests, it’s my fault, mostly for the match [I will miss] against Sevilla. Sometimes it’s difficult to contain yourself on the pitch.”
