MELBOURNE, Fla. – One person suffered minor injuries after a small plane hit some power lines and crashed in Melbourne Thursday evening.
The crash happened at around 7 p.m. in a parking lot near the Renningers Flea and Farmers Market off Eau Gallie Boulevard.
As per information from the Federal Aviation Administration, there were two individuals aboard the aircraft, a twin-engine Beechcraft 76. The plane was registered to a flight school in Melbourne, based on its tail number.
Reported by a deputy fire chief from the Melbourne Fire Department, the small plane collided with power lines close to the flea market area, resulting in one person sustaining injuries. It remains unclear if this individual was one of the occupants on the plane.
In a statement to News 6, the FAA said the pilot reported engine issues before the crash.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
