Levi Webb, a 26-year-old individual, was taken into custody following claims of gunfire being directed at a male individual amidst a altercation involving two women at a household in Elyria. The victim was subsequently taken to the hospital and is presently in a stable medical state.
In Cleveland, a male resident from Parma has been charged as a result of an altercation where two females were involved, ultimately leading to an alleged shooting incident that caused a male victim to be admitted to a hospital in Elyria during the early hours of Saturday.
Authorities from Elyria were called to an address on Clark Street at approximately 2:40 a.m. in response to reports of a shooting. Subsequently, a 35-year-old male was discovered with gunshot injuries and was swiftly taken to an Elyria medical facility. According to the police, the victim’s current medical status is deemed stable following the incident.
Earlier on Friday night, a group of people were out at a local bar when a dispute between two adult women broke out. Both women agreed to meet at the Clark Street home for a physical fight.
Levi Webb, 26, drove one of the involved women to the home. Police say Webb, while drunk, pulled a gun and fired multiple shots, hitting the 35-year-old victim. Webb allegedly fled the scene with the woman, according to police.
Police are not naming the shooting victim to protect his privacy. He spoke to investigators about the incident, police said.
“This was a reckless and dangerous situation that had the potential to end in far greater tragedy,” said Bill Lantz, spokesman for the Elyria Police Department. “It serves as a stark reminder of how alcohol, poor decision-making, and firearms can create deadly circumstances. We commend our officers’ swift response to this isolated incident.”
Police found Webb and the woman, who was not identified by police, in Webb’s vehicle near Chestnut Ridge Road and Abbe Road. Police recovered the gun they believe Webb used in the shooting near his car.
The two were taken to the Elyria Police Department for questioning. Webb was charged with felonious assault and using weapons while intoxicated. He is behind bars at the Lorain County Jail while he awaits a court date.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing. Police say additional charges may be filed.
