1 person injured in shooting in Denver's Pinehurst neighborhood; investigation underway

DENVER — A 27-year-old has been arrested following a shooting early Tuesday morning in Denver’s Pinehurst Village neighborhood.

The Denver Police Department stated that at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to respond to a shooting incident on the 6500 block of W. Mansfield Avenue, located on a private road in the Pinehurst Country Club area. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered a man who had sustained gunshot injuries. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital and is anticipated to recover.

Following a preliminary examination, authorities indicated that there is a connection between the victim and the alleged perpetrator. The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Luke Johnson.

Johnson is currently in custody under suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. The Denver District Attorney’s Office will ultimately determine the specific charges that will be brought against him.
