Police in Cleveland are looking into a shooting incident in the Lee-Harvard neighborhood, which led to seven teenage victims being taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries on Sunday night.
The shooting occurred following reports of drag racing in the vicinity of Lee Road and Harvard Avenue around midnight. The incident unfolded at approximately 12:15 a.m. as officers were en route to the location.
Three of the seven victims were taken to a hospital in private cars, while four were transported by EMS. According to police, the victims include:Â
- Two 18-year-old men
- Three 18-year-old women
- One 19-year-old men
- One 19-year-old woman
The Cleveland Division of Police stated in a press release that detectives promptly responded to the scene and commenced an investigation, which involved collecting evidence and examining surveillance footage.
Shaker Heights police later stopped a vehicle that detectives confirmed had been at the scene of the shooting. Three people were inside the car, and three firearms were recovered by police. The driver, a 21-year-old man who was not identified by police, was arrested for improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.
The investigation is still under police investigation as of 11 a.m..
