Greeley woman killed in shooting Sunday morning; man arrested on charges of murder, domestic violence

In Greeley, Colorado, a man has been taken into custody and accused of murder and domestic violence for allegedly shooting a woman to death early on a Sunday morning.

Around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers with the Greeley Police Department responded to reports of a shooting along the 300 block of 9th Avenue.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement at the scene, they discovered a 24-year-old woman who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. Despite their efforts to revive her and the prompt transportation to a hospital, the woman succumbed to her injuries. At present, the victim remains unidentified.

The authorities apprehended Gabriel Esparza, aged 23, as the prime suspect in the case. He was placed under arrest and detained at the Weld County Jail on charges including first-degree murder, illegal possession of a firearm due to past offenses, and domestic violence allegations.
