Canton woman dies, 4 others hurt in Stark County crash

There were four other people hurt as a result of the crash — including 2 children — all with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Tracy Broyles, a 54-year-old woman from Canton, passed away after a collision involving two vehicles on Route 172 near Perry Drive in Perry Township on Monday afternoon.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Broyles was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Geo Metro that collided with a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica.

The crash occurred when a Chevrolet Geo Metro did not yield while attempting a left turn onto Perry Drive and was hit by a Chrysler Pacifica. Tracy Broyles was taken to Aultman Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.

In addition to Tracy’s fatality, four other individuals sustained injuries in the accident. They were all transported to the hospital, but fortunately, their injuries were reported as non-life-threatening by authorities.

  • 26-year-old Canton man who was a passenger in the Geo Metro.
  • 33-year-old Franklin woman who was driving the Pacifica.
  • Two children who were passengers in the Pacifica. Their ages were not provided.

While the crash is under investigation, the Highway Patrol said alcohol is not suspected to be a factor.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including crews from Perry, Plain Township, Jackson Township and Massillon.
